Albert Crandon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 26 to Oct. 27, 2004.
CRANDON
ALBERT SEABURY, JR.
Age 80, of O'Hara Twp, on Saturday, October 23, 2004; husband of Med Crandon; father of David Seabury Crandon (Phyllis), Anne Crandon Heiner (David) and Mary Crandon Moyer (Reed); grandfather of Philip and Chas Crandon, David and Stephen Heiner and Graham and Julia Moyer; brother of Mary Crandon Kluss. Seab graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Yale, with the Class of 1945 W, after serving in the Pacific during World War II. In addition to his career in Civil Engineering, Seab was a founder and chief engineer of the Fox Chapel Racquet Club where he served twice as Club President. While Seab lived in Pittsburgh for most of his 80 years, he thought of Little Compton, Rhode Island as a second home. Having inherited a 200 year old family farm there, Seab donated much of the property to the Little Compton Conservancy. The Crandon family has used the home for summer gatherings for many years. He was particularly proud of, and took joy in, his three children and six grandchildren. Seab will always be remembered for his wit and humor. Once met, never forgotten. The family will be receiving visitors at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall on Wednesday, from 5-7pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Road, on Thursday at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church for the Jubilee Ministry, which provides palliative care for terminally ill children, or to a charity of your choice.

Very sorry to read about the passing of a wonderful gentleman. I accidentally came across the obituaries on-line and was most amazed that I recognized a family name from years ago. I went through the Fox Chapel schools with his daughter Anne, whom I always held in the highest regard. From what I remember, Mr. Crandon was a very community-oriented, dynamic, respected, and intelligent individual who passed these qualities on to his children. My sympathies for your lose.

Mrs. Crandon and Family,

I would like to extend sincere sympathy to all of you at the loss of Mr. Crandon. I became acquainted with him when he was employed by Levinson Steel's Schokbeton Division. I had the pleasure of doing occasional secretarial work for him, and looked forward to his smiling face and good nature. I know he will be missed.

Well said - once met, never forgotten. Seab will be greatly missed by the Fitzgeralds across the road and by the neighborhood. It was our honor to have known him.
