Alexander Paetro Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2018.
In an unbelievable tragedy, Alexander Campbell Paetro passed away on October 13, 2018, in a motorcycle accident in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born on August 17, 1998, in Miami, Florida, and at just 20 years old, had made a huge impact in the lives of so many.

He is survived by his parents, Fiona Horsfall of Olney, Maryland; father Anthony Paetro of Arlington, Virginia; grandmother Izabella Horsfall of Freeport, Bahamas; uncle Ian Horsfall (Diane) of Preston, England; uncle Nigel Horsfall of Miami, Florida; aunt Maxine Paetro (John Duffy) of Amenia, New York; cousin Rob (Emma and daughter Izabella) Horsfall of Preston, England; cousin Matt (Hannah) Horsfall of Leeds, England; cousin Greg Horsfall of Rome, Italy; and cousin Clarissa Horsfall of Miami, Florida. There are also so many friends that were family to Alex that so deeply feel his loss.

Alex grew up in Olney, Maryland, attending Olney Elementary School, Rosa Parks Middle School, Sherwood High School, and Montgomery Community College. He dreamt of going to school in north Florida, so he figured out how to get to Tallahassee Community College (TCC) on his path to completing his business degree. He moved to Tallahassee in late August, found himself a job at Florida Motor Sports working on all-things motorcycles, started at TCC, and developed a strong group of friends who all loved him in the short time they knew him.

In Maryland, Alex played his favorite sport, ice hockey, with various teams in Montgomery County, but his passion was all-things with wheels, like his love of skateboards and gas-powered scooters, which evolved into motorcycles and various cars and trucks. He was also a great lover of animals, especially his dogs at home in Olney. He loved fishing, a sport he developed while spending time in the Bahamas at his grandmother's house, and one that he avidly pursued in Maryland at many local lakes and ponds with his friends, who all loved him like a brother.

All those that knew Alex loved him so dearly for his kindness, compassion, humor, and love of life. He was not afraid to take full advantage of his time on this earth. He will be missed so terribly and leaves a tremendous void in our lives.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Manor at Silo Falls, 19501 Georgia Avenue, Brookeville, MD, October 27, 2018, at 11:00 am.

Dear Fiona and Tony,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on Alex's tragic passing. I have wonderful memories of Alex and Matt playing hockey together in middle school and high school; they were real buddies. Alex was always soft spoken and very kind. I remember the last time I saw him was earlier this year riding a bike on the Lake Needwood bike path. He stopped to stay hello and chat for a bit. Then he rode off, happy as he could be. I know this is unspeakably sad time for you, but I hope your happy memories of Alex give you some comfort.
Your friend,
Eric

Fiona, I have many fond memories of Alex and Justin as young boys. Alex was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring friend to Justin. I'm praying that the beautiful memories you have of Alex and the love of family and friends will help carry you through the days, months, years ahead. I will be out of town on 10/27, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
