I am so proud of my cousin Alison for the bravery that she showed during her illness. I will always remember her warm smile the genuine interest that she showed in the lives of others even during her own struggles. She leaves an incredible legacy in her children Derek and Tori and I know left us knowing that her wonderful husband will look after them well. I smile when I think of her sense of humour and ability to laugh at life. We will all miss her dearly.
All our love,

My first clear memory of Alison was when her and Keith announced their engagement just after Christmas. I was quite young and was watching a movie about the boogie monster that horrified me with my cousins at a family dinner. I remembered thinking of her as my Dad's beautiful Cousin, who was strong and determined and she will always remain that way to me. She lived life to its fullest until the end and I send all my love to Keith, Derek, and Tori who have remained so strong through everything. Keith you are an amazing father and I know you and the family will pull through this and live on to remember and appreciate the precious time that Alison was with us.
All my love,
Emily

I met Alison at the park in North Vancouver in 2004 when we were both expecting our second child. We had so much in common it was unbelievable. Our girls were born days apart and our boys were less than a month apart in their birthdays. I met Keith a few times at Birthday and Christmas gatherings and was very impressed at what an attentive husband & father he was. We enjoyed many happy playdates and picnics with Alison, Derek & Victoria until we moved to Denver in 2005. Since our move I missed Alison; but, was happy to see her & the kids for a quick playdate at Ambleside park on a visit in 2007. Little did I know that it would be our last one. At that time she assured me that her health was improving. We emailed & sent Christmas cards but she never mentioned her condition. It came very unexpectedly when I learned of her passing. I had planned on seeing Alison, Keith & the kids this summer. I am so saddened by the news of this loss. I will forever remember Alison as a warm, caring, patient, loving, generous & kind woman. Our family will miss her dearly. God bless Keith, Derek, & Tori & all Family & Friends.

I never knew Alison when she wasn't sick, but I watched her battle with such courage and equanimity that it was clear she was an exceptional woman. I'm sure that strength of character will live on through Derek and Tori. I also admire enormously the way Keith battled to keep his family whole during this incredibly trying time, never taking his eyes off his children. God bless him and the Groundwaters as they carry this awful burden of their dear Alison's death.
