Allan DONEY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2023.
It is with great sadness that the family of Allan (Al) Doney announce his peaceful passing at PRHC on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in his 96th year.
Al lived a beautiful and full life that was enriched by many wonderful people and places. Al was born to William (Bill) and Charlotte Doney and a brother of eight. Survived by brother Mervin Doney, sister-in-law Edith Doney; predeceased by sisters Celia Steele (George), Helen Spence (Elmer), Doris Rutledge (Harry), Hazel Kinder (George) and Inez Barker (Allan), and brothers, Emerson Doney (Audrey) and Murray Doney.
Al and his siblings grew up north of Bancroft on a small family farm where he developed his love of the outdoors and all its bounties. He has been an active hunter, trapper and angler since a young age and has made incredible friendships and memories with many hunting clubs and groups over his years.
After coming to Peterborough in his late teens, Al worked many years in the Insurance industry, including a long career with Great West Life that allowed for many travels, fond memories and life-long friendships with both clients and colleagues alike. Al was a member of many clubs and organizations and had wonderful stories to share about everything from curling, Kinsmen, OFAH and many more.
Al is survived and sadly missed by his daughters Valerie Doney and Heather Reason, his longtime companion Sharon Roebuck, his granddaughters Devon Doney and Sarah Jane Reason and great grandsons Tom and Kenny McConnell. The love, support and guidance he shared with all those who knew and loved him will forever be treasured in our memories.
The family would like to invite family, friends, neighbours and colleagues to join them to celebrate Al's life at ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 840 Armour Rd., Peterborough on May 9, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to the OFAH - Young Hunter Education Scholarship fund or YWCA of Peterborough.
