Allison Ordway Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2022.
Allison J. Ordway, 63, of Denver, passed away at Crossroads Memory Care Home on Monday (September 12, 2022). She was born in West Hartford, the daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy (Treworthy) Ordway.

Allison began her studies in Psychology at Rutgers University in 1980 and received her bachelor's degree in 1983. From there she moved to Colorado where she studied Clinical Psychology and Social work at the University of Denver and received a Master of Social Work in 1985. Once graduated, she started her social work career at a methadone clinic in New Jersey. In 1990 she moved to the Denver Public Health Department where she started working with survivors of HIV. Allison worked with them until August of 1992 when she then moved on to be a social work supervisor at The Children's Hospital of Denver. During her time there, she worked with the families of pediatric HIV patients, helping to establish the Children's Hospital Immunodeficiency Program (CHIP), and participating in numerous events, such as the Telluride AIDS benefits, to raise funds for HIV-positive children and their families. From here she moved on to work at Genentech (formally known as Roche). Multiple times she was the top sales representative due to her previous work with HIV patients and her charismatic personality.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Russell C. Ordway Jr. of East Hampton; daughter, Rose J. Ordway of Denver, CO; and many friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1st, at 10 a.m. at Aspen Mortuaries, 1350 Simms St, Lakewood.

Allison was my 2nd cousin on her mother's father's side (from Massachusetts). I spoke to her only once unfortunately, probably around 2005, when she helped me fill in some missing data on our family tree. She was very helpful and pleasant. She'd mentioned Tyrik.

Ty, your mom was so generous to me when she got a bonus she gave me a bonus. I loved her...All the cool clothes she bought you, when you outgrew them, she gave them to me for my great nephew. I will never forget our friendship. She was a smart, wonderful woman. You were the light of her life. I feel so sorry for you, if you need me call me. I LOVE YOU. Theresa Espinoza

My condolences to the Ordway family. I worked with Allison when she was the social worker at CHIP. She was a tremendous advocate for our clients. She set a high standard for meeting their needs and taking a wholistic approach to care. And she brought great energy, enthusiasm and fun to our work. Her work to develop the care model and to provide care to children living with HIV has impacted so many lives! She impacted my life too and I am a better person for having known Allison. I know she will be much missed by those who knew her.
