Allister Brekke

BREKKE, Allister (Al) Scott March 26, 1936 to August 31, 2008 On August 31, 2008, Allister Scott Brekke passed away at the age of 72 years from a lengthy battle with heart disease. Allister was a loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend; his loving wife, Norma of 52 years, two sons and families, will sadly miss him Richard (Debbie) Brekke of Calgary, Robert Brekke of Edmonton, four grandchildren Alexander and Jonathan of Calgary, Jillian and Colin of Edmonton, sister - Marleen Morrison and family of Calgary, brother - David (Irene) Brekke and family of Whitehorse, Yukon, Cheryl Brekke of Edmonton, Uncle Herrfin and Aunt Maghild Brekke of Oslo, Norway, nieces and numerous Cousins. His parents Hovard and Alice Brekke of Ponoka, Alberta predeceased him. Allister was born in Innisfail, Alberta, March 26, 1936, a Power Engineer with a First Class Certificate of Competency and a Professional Engineer with a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, he worked in the utility industry. Allister joined Alberta Power Ltd in 1971 and held many positions with the company until his retirement in 1998 as Director of Government Affairs. He was also an active volunteer in the community, in many capacities, including Chair of the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Al Shamal Shriners. Allister loved his family and enjoyed his many friends through his professional affiliations and golfing. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the superior Doctors, Nurses and staff of the CCU, Royal Alexandra Hospital and Heart Function Stabilization Program who provided such personal and compassionate care for Allister during his many years of heart failure. A "Gathering" in Allister's memory will be held September 14, 2008 at Pleasantview United Church Hall, 10672 - 62 Avenue, Edmonton Between - 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. for family and friends, Honoring Allister's request there will be no formal memorial services.
