Alton "A.J." Hawthorne Obituary

Alton "A.J." James Hawthorne, 88, a resident of Beaumont for eighty years passed away on Monday August 15, 2016 in Nederland. A.J. was born on February 20, 1928 in Livingston, Texas in Polk County to his parents George and Bessie Myers Hawthorne who preceded him death. Also preceding him in death were his wife Joy Hawthorne, two sons; Dennis Hawthorne, Roddy Hawthorne, and daughter Sandra Hawthorne Mason.

He was a Baptist by faith and in his working years was an Operator for DuPont Chemical in Orange and also owned his own printing business called Hawthorne Printing which he thoroughly enjoyed working at. He also spent a large amount of time taking great care of all his dogs.
He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines.

A.J. is survived by his two grandsons, Michael Mason and partner Teresa Baker of Beaumont, Dr. Ryan James Mason and wife Ana Wolfowicz of Houston; granddaughter, Ashley Simpson and her fiancé Greg Miner; great grandchildren, Julian Mason, Barrett Simpson, Charleigh Miner, Julian Mason.

Visitation will be held on Saturday August 20, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. until the Funeral service time of 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

Great slideshow and videos! I'm surprised all those dogs didn't start barking in the background to AJ's catface Snapchat >:). I only got to meet him a handful of times when I was in town visiting, but I could tell he was a great guy and absolutely one-of-a-kind.
