Andrew Perrius Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2025.
Andrew "Andy" Perrius, 88, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Middletown , New Jersey surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 29, 1937, in Patterson, New Jersey, Andy lived a life marked by a witty and deep intellect, notable work ethic and unwavering devotion to his family, faith and friends.

After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Andy built a respected career as a computer programmer, working for NCR, Levelor, and Manufacturers Hanover. He and his beloved wife JoAnn raised their growing family in Teaneck, Montvale, Park Ridge, Warwick, NY then Middletown, NJ. Even after retiring from the corporate world, Andy continued to serve others during his retirement years as a patient transporter at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, always bringing a chuckle and smile to the staff and patients.

Andy was known for his sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge. He was a trivia whiz who rarely missed an episode of *Jeopardy!* or doing the NY Times crossword puzzle on Sundays with his wife JoAnn. When he no longer could see the televison, he enjoyed listening to NPR's "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!", Yankee games, all genres of music, especially jazz and countless hours of audible books. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Andy also enjoyed gardening, sketching, golfing, and fishing.

Faith played a central role in Andy's life. As a past deacon at the First Baptist Church of Red Bank, he found great fulfillment in studying and discussing the Bible and history. His thoughtful insights and curious spirit left a lasting impression on those who shared in these conversations, especially his family at home around the dinner table.

Above all else, Andy was a devoted husband to his beloved wife JoAnn (Pullen) Perrius until her passing in 2001, caring for her with unwavering love through her illness-a testament to his deep compassion and loyalty. As a grandfather, he brought lots of fun and laughter into the lives of his grandchildren. His presence made every gathering more joyful.

Andy is lovingly remembered by many friends and family, especially his children: Christopher and his wife Tyfara and their children Eli, Leo, and Lula; Jennifer and her husband Louis Cimmino and their children Tyler, Travis, and Abby; Jonathan and his wife Maria and their son Ryan; Jeremy and his wife Erika; Jessica and her husband Darryl D'Erasmo and their children Ava and Duke; Joshua and his wife Jennifer and their children Andrew, Anastasia, Aurora, Aibhinn, and Jonathan; Jillian and her husband David Waring and their children James and Samantha.

He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Carrie Perrius and his sister Bertha (Perrius) Tanis, and his cherished wife JoAnn.

Andy Perrius leaves behind a legacy of humility, intelligence, kindness and humor. He was proud to say "I'll be going to med school one day" as he made arrangements to donate his body to Rutgers Medical School.

A Visitation will be held on October 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 03:00 PM, with a memorial service at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 84 Maple Ave, Red Bank, NJ.

My deepest condolences to the family. Unfortunately, I did not have the privilege of knowing Mr. Perrius personally, but as I read his obituary, I sense a man who intentionally lived life to reflect God's love during his time here. Wishing you all peace during this season of loss.
