Ann Connell Browne
MT. HOLLY -- Mrs. Browne, 79, died peacefully Friday February 20, 2009. The daughter of the late Dr. Earl Ware and Helen Lineberger Connell, she was born September 24, 1929 in Mt. Holly, NC. Mrs. Browne was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Thomas Marcus Browne. She is survived by her loving and devoted children, 2 sons Thomas Marcus Browne, III and wife Pam of Creedmore, NC, Richard Earl Browne of Mt. Holly; 2 daughters Beth Browne Stahl and husband Brian of Mooresville, NC, Alice Browne Albright and husband Dr. Dowe Albright of Charlotte, and 2 granddaughters Mary Helen and Rebecca Ann Albright, who will always treasure the memories of their 'Nan'.
Mrs. Browne is also survived by her brother Robert I. Connell of Mt. Holly. She had 45 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews all of whom she loved and cherished.
Mrs. Browne attended Mt. Holly schools and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1947. She received a Degree in Home Economics from Sacred Heart College in 1949 and attended Greensboro College from 1949 - 1950. She and Tom were married on June 25, 1950 in the Belmont Abbey Cathedral. She was a member of the Mt. Holly Garden club and the Mt. Holly Book club. She was a founding member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church; belonged to the St. Anne's Guild, and was active in the alumni association of Sacred Heart College.
Mrs. Browne was a past PTA president at Sacred Heart Grade School, where she gladly devoted many hours. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and as a leader of several Girl Scout troops. She later worked in the libraries of both Sacred Heart College and Belmont Abbey College.
Mrs. Browne was very creative. Her talents included sewing, needle craft, and interior design. She enjoyed poetry, literature, and travel. Her home was always welcoming to family and friends. She will be remembered for her joyfulness, sense of humor, kindness to others, strong faith, and of course her fabulous cooking.
A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Mrs. Browne will be held at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church on Tuesday February 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Belmont Abbey Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception following the interment in the fellowship hall of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to the Belmont Abbey Alumni Association, c/o Belmont Abbey College, 100 Belmont - Mt. Holly Rd., Belmont, NC 28012, or Holy Angels Nursery, 6600 Wilkinson Blvd, Belmont, NC 28012.

Mark, Richard, Beth, and Alice,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom, Ann, was truly a remarkable lady. I will always picture her with a warm smile and happy greeting. What a classy lady. It is women as she I try to emulate. Someone I wish to be.
