Ann Ritter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2024.
Ann E. Ritter - also known as Liz - passed away at the age of 77 on December 12, 2023 at Mission House Hospice in Redwood City, CA. Ann had been battling Mucosal Melanoma for almost three years prior to her death.

Ann was born October 6, 1946 to parents Richard and Lucy Llywelyn in Inglewood, CA. She and her older brother, Jim Llywelyn, grew up in Hawthorne, CA and attended George Washington High School. In the early seventies, she moved to San Jose, CA with her husband Wayne Gerald Thomas Ritter and daughter Rebecca (Becky). While working at Hewlett Packard (HP) in Palo Alto, Ann went to night school for five years and received a Political Science degree at San Jose State University in 1978.

In 1979, Ann, Wayne and Rebecca moved to Half Moon Bay, CA, where Ann continued to live until her death. Ann and Wayne divorced in 1998.

Ann's career spanned over 35 years in the computer technology industry. She began her career at North American Rockwell working as an administrative assistant. She went on to work at Hewlett Packard for over 30 years in the HR and Compensation departments. A highlight of her career at HP was a two-year assignment as HR Site Manager in Singapore. She left HP in the early 2000s and went to work for Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. She finally retired in 2006.

During retirement, Ann devoted many years on the boards of her favorite charities -- Filoli and the Coastside Adult Day Health Center. She also joined the Viva La Musica Choir and sang with the choir at venues in California and Europe. Ann traveled to numerous countries, visiting every continent except Antarctica.

Ann loved riding horses, gardening and flower arranging, sewing, singing, playing piano and golf.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lucy Llywelyn; her brother, Jim Llywelyn; and her ex-husband, Wayne Ritter.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Doug Judd; granddaughters, Ellison and Tuesday Judd; step son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Beth Ritter; sister-in-law, Kathe Llywelyn; niece, Michelle Mosher and her husband David Mosher, their daughters Ashley and Jessica Mosher; nephew, David Llywelyn; and doggie Bentley.

A celebration of Ann's life will take place at Maverick's House, 107 Broadway, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 at 12pm. A late luncheon will be served.

In remembrance of Ann's (Liz's) life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Mission Hospice & Home Care, Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, or your favorite charity.

A remarkable woman with flair for life, Ann will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

I was Ann's massage therapist for many, years. I loved when she shared about her precious family, dogs and her many adventures. I would look forward every October to seeing the beautiful Halloween costumes she made for her cherished Granddaughter's. It was inspiring to me to watch her live life to the fullest! She was a Special Soul and will always be one of the Special clients in my life. I am so grateful for my time with her and how she touched my life! Ann will always remain in my thoughts and heart and so will her precious family.

We lived across the hall from Ann in our apartment complex in Singapore. She was a great neighbor and a good friend. We are so sorry to hear of her passing.

So sorry for your loss. Ann will be missed! I loved how engaged she was with her granddaughters, even taking them on a trip to Africa! Her influence lives on in those who were lucky enough to know her.
