Obituary for Ann Roca

We are gathered here today to honor the life of Ann Wisener Townsend Roca, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She will be remembered as one who loved to entertain family and friends….her door was always open and I might add, usually had everyone's favorite food on hand.

She was born on June 17, 1924 in Ardmore, OK. She grew up in Paris, Texas where she met and married her first love, Eugene Townsend. They were married for 31 years until his death in 1971. In 1973 she had the good fortune to meet and marry Earl Roca, a true gentleman who loved her and her family as his own. He preceded her in death in 1989. Her daughter, Tommie Chapin, also precedes her in death in 2005.

As a mother, she always put her children first and made many personal sacrifices for them. She was a constant source of support and encouragement to them. As a grandmother, Nana spoiled all four of her grandchildren. She kept a well-supplied candy jar, as well as the ever-present "orange slices". There were great patio parties with delicious food, fun and games. She loved taking pictures. Her great grandchildren knew about Nana's special "picture stepstool that sat in the corner of her kitchen. It was the first place they headed after their visit to the candy jar, of course. There are countless pictures of smiling young faces perched on Nana's stepstool.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Boyd and husband, Michael, son-in-law, David W. Chapin, her three grandsons: David E. Chapin and wife, Charla, Rodney Chapin and wife, Leslie, Craig Boyd, granddaughter Cindi Fisher and husband, Kevin, her great grandchildren: Jamie Chapin, Haleigh Sonka, Anna Chapin, Abby Chapin, Kelsey Chapin, Collin Fisher, Ryan Fisher, Molly Chapin, Morgan Boyd, Emily Chapin, Natalie Fisher, and Maci Boyd.

She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be greatly missed but we will all be comforted by the wonderful memories that we cherish. Until we see you again, Nana, we love you.
