YELLAN, Ann Elizabeth Died May 6 in Los Angeles peacefully after being diagnosed with cancer in 2005. Born October 31, 1952, in Montgomery, Alabama, she grew up with her family in the Air Force, living in Japan, Edwards Air Force Base and Eglin Air Force Base in Florida; with her grandparents in Des Moines, Iowa; and in Fallbrook, California. She made homes for herself throughout the state, having attended college in Palomar and Berkeley, and lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties. She studied geology, became a formidable gardener with a particular love of old roses, and avidly collected antiques, textiles, dolls and folk art. She also had a vibrant career in advertising sales with The Orange Country Register, Ventura County Star, and the Los Angeles Times. She raised two wonderful boys, and was a loving and devoted grandmother. She is survived by her sons Jem and Cody, his wife Norah, grandchildren Frances and Isaac, her sister Dorothy and her husband Wayne, nieces Sheena and Hailey, her brothers Scott and Allan and their spouses Modhavi and Sue. Ann will be loved and missed by all those her life has touched over the years. Following her wishes, she donated her body to USC for cancer research. A Memorial will be held in her honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Roberts, in Irvine, CA Saturday May 14th, 2011 at 2pm. If you have any questions please call 626-506-8859.

Ann was one of the best. I had the opportunity to work with her for a short time and she was simply a delight to be around, funny, compassionate, caring - especially about her boys, of whom we heard many many proud reports. Ann also had an exquisite sense of humor and justice, and a tremendous appreciation of what is art and what is beautiful in the world. Blessings to Ann's family - you are lucky to be part of her! And to those who cared for her over these past few years.

I have great memories of Ann. A talented, competent, compassionate, artistic, family person who loved her sons more than anything. I knew her the short time we worked together, and always remember her quiet professionalism, sense of justice, loyalty, humor, wit and wisdom. God bless Ann and her family.

We will all miss, Ann’s wit and wisdom, that was so freely available on most any subject. Time has captured Ann, however, we can hold her where and when we want. A reflective thought, when I pass the beautiful roses in my garden, may be her tugging on my memory, and then she smiles…
