Anna May Berard, 84, passed away on May 9, 2025, in Bellingham, Washington.

Born on December 23, 1940, in Trenton, New Jersey, Anna May moved with her parents to Washington in 1949. She spent her formative years on a farm in Sumas, where she developed a deep appreciation for hard work and the simple joys of rural life. These early experiences shaped her determined spirit and strong work ethic-qualities that remained with her throughout her life.

Anna May graduated from Nooksack Valley High School and went on to complete an Executive Secretarial Course at Bellingham Success Business College. Her education led to a fulfilling career in the accounting department at Intalco Aluminum Corporation, where she was known for her diligence and talent.

Outside of work, Anna May found joy in sewing, quilting, and gardening. Her hands were rarely idle; whether stitching intricate quilts or tending to her garden beds, she poured care and creativity into everything she did. These hobbies not only brought her personal satisfaction but also reflected the patience and dedication that defined her character.

Family was central to Anna May's life. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and took great pleasure in their visits over the years. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Dave (Susan) Berard; grandsons Matthew Berard and Craig (Carisa) Berard; granddaughter Kimberly Berard; two great-granddaughters; and her sister Mary Ann (Larry) Johnson. She also leaves behind nieces Kristin (Shawn) Clemenson and Anjie Altschwager.

Anna May was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Berard, and her daughter, Michelle Berard.

Her legacy lives on through the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched with her quiet strength and unwavering determination. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
