BEVERLY- Mrs. Anna R. (Rouleau) Cataldo of Beverly passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Kaplan House in Danvers at the age of 89, just two months shy of her 90th birthday, after a short illness, with her family by her side. Anna was born to Augustine (Rochon) and Alexander Rouleau on December 14, 1924 in their home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1941 Anna graduated from Notre Dame dePiete French School in Cambridge. For her beautiful voice, she was chosen by Notre Dame to sing at their Masses and she also sang for wounded soldiers in hospitals and on public radio during World War II. During her early childhood and through her high school years, Anna's family rented a cottage each summer on Long Lake in Littleton, Massachusetts. It was there that she spent her summers swimming, boating and fishing. It was also there that she met Anthony Cataldo who was soon to head off to war. Upon his return from service, Anna and Anthony were married on June 16, 1945. Throughout her life, Anna's role as homemaker and mother was a full time job that she excelled at. She was an expert seamstress, knitter and all around craft person. She took great pleasure in making clothes and afgans for her many friends and loved ones. Anna and Anthony retired in 1986 and spent winters in Largo, Florida. After 47 years of marriage Anthony passed away in 1992 and in 2002 Anna moved back to Beverly full time. Until recently she was blessed with good health and was very active. She will be missed very much by her family and many friends. She is survived by her children, Donna Petit and her husband Stephen of Coronado, California, Diane Baniewicz and her husband Dennis of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, Norine Manzi and her husband David of Beverly, Massachusetts and Thomas Cataldo and his wife Dorsey of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, John Petit, Dawn Press, Dennis Baniewicz, Candice Manzi (her special angel), Jessica Cataldo, Callie Cataldo and Connor Cataldo, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Florence Brousseau and her husband John, Dorothy FitzGerald and her husband Joseph, and her brother Paul and his wife Ruth. ARRANGEMENTS: Interment and graveside services are private at the request of the family. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations in Anna's memory can be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
