Joyfully embraced life by celebrating her 94th birthday, a lifelong resident of Sewickley, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Franciscan Manor. Anne, one of five children, was born on July 21, 1924, in Sewickley to the late Thomas and Anna (McLaughlin) Cronin. Anne was a 1943 graduate of Sewickley High School. There she met her husband, James C. "Tim" Abercrombie, Jr. Tim was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return, the high school sweethearts married on June 8, 1946. Tim preceded Anne in death on June 20, 1999. Beloved mother of Barbara (Kenneth) Jones of Cincinnati, OH, Janet (the late Douglas) Masciola and James C. (Annette) Abercrombie III, all of Sewickley; cherished grandmother of Beth (Josh) Adkins and Megan (Kent) Kelly; great-grandmother of Avery, Ryann and Mason. Anne was preceded in death by siblings, Thomas and James Cronin, Margaret Neely and Mary Amend. Anne was a faithful and life-long member of St. James Church and their 55+ Club. Anne and Tim loved to go out to dinner and were regulars at Sewickley Eat N Park. Known all over Sewickley as an avid walker, it was said by some, that you could set your watch to Anne's walking schedule. She also enjoyed card club. Visitation Wednesday 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at COPELAND'S Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. where prayers will be recited on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at St. James Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Anne and I used to walk every morning together. Rain or shine, ice was our only deterrent. I still think of those walks when I cross the Sewickley Bridge. Anne and TIm were 2 of my pleasant memories of Sewickley.
Together again may they laugh and smile in heaven as they did on this earth. My condolences to her loved ones.
