Anne Hrabak Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 19, 2024.
Anne Alexandra "Lexa" Hrabak, 42, of Lexington, KY, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital while surrounded by her family. Born in Lexington on August 1, 1982, to Albert and Jane Hrabak, Lexa's pediatrician pointed out her strong will and remarked that it would serve her well.

Living her life richly, both inwardly and outwardly, Lexa pursued many interests and appreciations with incredible retention and synthesis. She immersed in music of all kinds via recordings and live shows, and created it with her talents for string instruments and contagious laughter. She was so caring for animals of all species. She relished and produced all forms of art, big and small. She savoured a spectrum of delicious nourishment and cuisines. Lexa tried to help everyone see the positive aspects of themselves the way that she saw them. At the time cancer arrived upon her, she was enjoying a recent promotion at Whole Foods Market due to her encyclopedic knowledge of the entire store's offerings and leading by example with her work ethic.

Lexa leaves the love of her life Shane Rogers, and their pup Spock, grieving far too soon. Furthermore she is survived by her adoring and devoted parents and siblings Mary (Darren) and Peter, brilliant nephew Jack, and a loving host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

To list Lexa's thousands of friends is impossible. She was especially blessed to have Laura Casey as an anchor and daily confidante these past 18 months, as well as joining us bedside to tend to Lexa as she left her chrysalis behind. Jennifer LaVallee and Lexa have been safe harbors for one another for many, many years. A close friend since early childhood, and an accomplished nurse of 20 years, Katie Gardner brought special comfort during Lexa's illness.

Lexa was predeceased by her grandparents, her cousin Jeremiah, and a menagerie of beloved companions including Rusty, Arys, Daisy, Moki, Shady, and Georgey.

Lexa's care teams at Markey Cancer Center, the Hematology and Blood & Marrow Transplant Program, and the UK ICU were phenomenal. Special recognition is deeply felt for Nurse Jordan Helfst, Nurse Lauren Bodine, and Nurse Kadeidra Jackson.

Lexa Hrabak was hradiant, hresourceful, and hresilient; she could be a hreal hrascal and was often a hriot.

Per Lexa's Five Wishes document, there will be a memorial celebration of her life in Lexington, KY, on December 29, 2024, at LexArts (161 N Mill Street), receiving guests from 1pm to 4pm. There will also be events in Richmond, VA, on January 11, 2025, on the grounds of historic Hollywood Cemetery and at a private residence. Friends and family scattered wide are encouraged to simply remember her where you are and as you wish.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, we invite you to consider any/all: Donate to blood banks, if you are able and willing; plant trees and bulbs with Lexa in mind; provide support to charities like the Lexington Humane Society or your own local animal rescue organizations, or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I did not know Lexa, but I work with Mary. Branches of a tree are both unique and similar. Thus, I was introduced to Lexa through Mary's kind eyes and caring heart. My deepest sympathy to the family and friends. Please continue to grow strong.

Lexa was an incredibly special and unique soul. She was an absolute true individual. She gave me some cookbooks when she moved out when we were living together. They sit proudly in my kitchen and I´ll cook out of them to feel closer to her. She is sorely missed by loved ones and her positivity through hard times was so commendable. I´m glad I got to know her.

I did not know your sister but if she was as kind as her sister Mary ... she was an amazing woman. I work with Mary ... she is bright , caring , calm and kind all the time! My thoughts are with Mary and her family.
