Anthony Coratti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 10 to Jan. 11, 2021.
Anthony Charles Coratti

Hyde Park - Anthony Charles Coratti passed away on January 7, 2021 at the age of 95. A longtime resident of Hyde Park, NY and Rhinebeck, NY.

Charlie, as he was known to his family and friends, had an amazing zest for life and family.

He was born in Poughkeepsie on 12/29/1925 to Mary Fanelli Coratti and Joseph Coratti. They had five other children Margaret, Rose, John, Joseph Jr. Louise - all deceased except Louise. His youngest brother Joseph or Junior as he was called died at 19 during WW II.

Charlie began his career as a salesman for Culligan Water Co. with his brother John and they quickly became Culligan's top salesmen in the US. They purchased a small water conditioning company "All Star Water" and worked side by side. In the 1970's Charlie became sole owner and remained in business until his death. His children always worked diligently by his side as he had wished.

Our father lived the American dream. He went from a very poor young school dropout who set bowling pins on Washington Street to a successful business owner.

Nothing though, was more important to him than family. He loved all of his children and grandchildren with all his heart, including them in every facet of his life

One day while walking in the city of Poughkeepsie he came across a photography studio and noticed a picture of a beautiful young woman. Inquiring about her, the owner was quite reluctant to give this determined young man the information, but somehow he found her. Her name was Grace Helen Guercio from Hyde Park. His mission now was to find and marry her. His persistence paid off. They married in November 1949, had four children, Patricia (John), Cynthia (Keith), Joseph (JoAnne) and Philip (Jennifer). Blessed with grandchildren, Jade, Gia, Keith, Marissa, Lauren, Samantha, Cassidy and Christian, followed by great grandchildren Jack(5), twin girls Charli Grace and Beau (3 1/2), Joey (3), Anderson "Sonny" (2) and Christopher (2 months old), is life was complete.

He lived life to the fullest...loved Frank Sinatra, dancing, family and home...insisted on family holidays, working in business with his family, and living near them so he could see his children and grandchildren often.

God Bless you Dad, you are with mom now and your cherished family and friends. We will love you and be grateful to you and mom every day. You are already deeply missed.

Anthony and my dad, Anthony Stingone, shared many stories. Anthony spent a lot of time at my dads hot dog store on Smith Street. Many laughs and stories I will always remember. A good dresser and smile of Mr. Corrati I will always remember. I was Mr. Stingones daughter...c
