Cullers,
I still can't believe that you are gone. The last time I saw you was walking out of the PX in Drum and being shocked that you were up in Drum when I had just seen you at Sill.
It's almost been 3 years..........

Dear Friend,
If that day could be different
You would still be here now
God took you when he needed you,
He didn't care how
I was so angry with him
”Why did he take you then?”
He had so many other choices,
Other good women and men
It ripped our hearts to pieces
Knowing you were gone
Hard to understand his choice
“How could God be wrong?”
I carry your memories with me
Til someday we will meet again
God took a great person, strong man,
Brave man, and my friend.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

Dear Cullers family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
I Salute You.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to S/Sgt. Ari Richard Cullers our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Ari. And to Ari it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the supreme sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Ari, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Ari's family and loved ones.

Our son, Michael, is also in Afghanistan with 10th Mountain Division. Our hearts and our prayers go out to your family. In a trip to France, earlier this year, we visited the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. On a wall there we read these words that touched us: "Think not only of their passing. Remember the glory of their spirit." We hope the memory of the glory of your son's spirit brings you peace at this time. As Americans, we thank you and, as parents, we want you to know that you continue to be in our prayers.

Dear Robin, Tim, Jacob, and the entire Cullers Family,
I've never met Staff Sergeant Cullers...Ari...but I've known and served with men like him! I am a Nam-Era Submarine Vet and currently an active member of the Friends at EB Troop Support Group, so our involvement keeps us current. We try to honor any troop we're made aware of in whatever way we can to continually remind them...and their families...that we, too, know that Freedom Isn't Free!!! Generally, that's through care packages, but I also have, personally, a ministry of remembrance...for friends and family...and would like to consider y'all as such, as I would any fellow warrior. I would appreciate a contact to provide y'all with formatted versions of the obituary, related articles & pictures, as well as this “Comment”, to commemorate the heroic life we've ALL lost!
Our country has lost a brave soldier...a family has lost a brave son, brother, friend...HERO...who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom! John 15:13, the Warrior's Verse, was well met in Ari!!! A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States' for an amount "up to and including his life." We do our best to honor that here! And recognize, to some small degree, the hole left behind...by anyone so loved...or held in such high personal esteem.
And so I pray this helps some wee bit...to allow... enable…the grief! Definitely keepin' y'all in honored prayers that Christ hold you close in this trying time!
When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! I like to think that I got my character from my father, but my mind and its capacity from m'dear sainted mother!!! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.
SELFISH TEARS
(I Eulogize My Beloved Mother - March, 1989)
Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!
We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!
So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!
Ray Hamilton (c) March 19, 1989
My fond, sincerest condolences and prayers,
"For those who man the battle line, the bugle whispers low,
and freedom has a taste and price, the protected never know."
At Ease, Soldier...you've earned your rest!

Mrs. Cornele, Jacob & family, I know you all already know that Ari was the most colorful, beautifully spirited, effervescent, genuine, absolutely hysterical & amazing dedicated man, I just wanted to empathize the impact he had on me as a friend. The pain I feel for this loss of an old free is so deep, I cannot begin to imagine what you are going thru as a family. What I do know is Ari will forever be a part of my heart & my many memories, we were the class clowns together & I will forever feel the bond we had. Ari made everyone he encountered feel so special & loved. If the world had more amazing mothers as you are to your boys then we would have more great men like Ari. He was one in a million & will be sorely missed. Growing up he always had the sweetest things to say about his Mama & little brother. I will keep you & your family in my thoughts & hearts forever.
