I heve been living in California for over 14 years now and would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and the family. I will be in Montreal this coming Feb 16 - 20th and would love to come by if possible.

Dear Marilyn,

I was very saddened to hearing of Arthur's passing. I worked with the Bear at Merrill Lynch, back in the mid-'70's, when every thing seemed big. And the Bear was the biggest - big mentor, big heart, big smile. And years later I still remember Arthur as being the highlight of my time at Merrill.

My condolences to you and your family.

Dear Marilyn, Andrew, Reagan and Alex,
Your father was a great man, and I can honestly say although I dont remember much about my childhood, many of the the memories I do have involve the Steinberg residence and of course, Bear. Anyone I met who knew Bear was honored to have known him.
The Rossy family wishes you all the strength in the world to get through this difficult time.
Bear is in a better place, at peace, watching over all of you.

Bear, Thanks for all your smiles and runs down the mountain and shots at the Matterhorn on Saturday nights after skiing. Although I haven't seen you since the early 90's, I still see that ear to ear smile of yours.

Dear Marilyn & Family,

When I heard the tragic news of Bear's untimely passing I was shocked. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will always have fond memories of making runs on Hayride or Liftline with Bear - I would be going as fast as I could and he'd be right on my tail! Living, Laughing, and enjoying life were what Bear was all about and I'm grateful for the times we shared together. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers today and always. He will be missed trememdously. If there's anything I can do for you and your family please don't hesitate to call me - I will be in touch.

I was minding my own business working out at the gym, when along came an "individual" wearing a Big Dog T-SHIRT, baggies, flip-flops, a boisterous, infectious laugh and smile. In a nutshell, to me, this was "Bear". A bona fide bon-vivant, Bear didn't just live his life, he truly embraced it. It was during a difficult transitional period of my life, yet Bear was always sincere in his concern, always with words of encouragement. Who was this stranger who cared about how I was feeling? It was Bear, So Bear, you've left us because apparently, there's a greater need for you up there, but I will say this, even if I hadn't seen you in quite a long time, you've touched my life in ways I now wish I could have told you. I thank you Bear, for making me smile, laugh and remember what's important. To the Steinberg family, I wish you all courage and my most sincere condolences. We all lost someone so unique and dear, yet we've all gained so much by the privilege of having known him. Thank you once more Bear, thank you.

dear marilyn
i find myself in tears as i write this, in the face of bear's passing - it is a sign of how much life was living in him, the sheer grandness of it, an immense light, that shone upon those who knew him, a gift. May that light be not only a memory, but a guide to how life itself should be lived.

To: Rita, Marilyn, Andrew, Raegan and Alex,
With Arthur's passing, I have been looking back at the incredible relationship that he and I had. Apart from being involved intensely in business together since 1975, he really took a great interest in my personal life, especially in coping with each crisis and being happy with each success. Perhaps the greatest thing he did for me was to allow my child to be born in Vermont, using his home there, as he and I shared a great love of that state. He also tolerated my shtick, which I'm sure was not always easy. I am certain that not a day will go by in my life that I will not think of him. Rest in peace, Arthur!

Meeze,
Sandra joins me in extending our deepest sympathies to you and your family for this tragic loss.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Bear's passing, moments ago, from my Dad. I was unaware of his illness, having last enjoyed his spirit, wit and good humor at the 2004 TLC reunion and then about a year ago by phone.

Memories flood through my mind, of great times spent during countless summers at Twin Lake Camp, weekends in Stowe, snow skiing and water skiing, TMR hockey, the stocks, the smile, the big laugh, and the huge heart.

Bear was one of those people that God puts on this earth to make everyone else smile. He will be truly missed by every one who had the good fortune to know him.

Sorry that the distance prevents us from being there, but we are with you in spirit. May you be spared further sorrow, and always be comforted by the wonderful memories - he was truly one of a kind.
