B. R. ELLIOTT

St Luke's Church, Whaley Thorns, was full with family and friends for the service which preceded burial at the churchyard of life-long local resident Mr Barry Ronald Elliott (64), of Church Street, Langwith.
Born at Langwith and educated at Whaley Thorns School, Mr Elliott was a miner from the age of 15, working at Langwith and Shirebrook, retiring from the latter due to ill health.
He enjoyed football, bowls, cards and dominoes, holidays with his family and gardening on his allotment in his younger years.
Mr Elliott, who died at his home, leaves his wife, Mrs Shirley Elliott, seven sons - Tony, Neil, Brett, Justin, Troy, Ricky and Mick -16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his mother, Mrs Beat Elliott, of The Woodlands, Langwith.
