Barbara Ruth Buchholz

Tucson, AZ - Barbara Ruth (Winter) Buchholz of Tucson, Ariz., rested in Jesus on April 20, 2025. Born May 15, 1935, Broken Bow, Nebr., to Pastor V. H. and Lydia Winter. A 1957 grad of Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn., she taught at Good Shepherd Luth. School, Tucson, and Our Savior's Luth. School, Pomona, Calif. She taught for many years in Nogales Public Schools. Then taught at Lawrence Elem. in Tucson before retiring from teaching first grade at Mission View Elem. In 1963 she married David Buchholz. The Lord blessed them with three children. Barbara loved travel, supporting Lutheran mission work, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. V. H. & Lydia Winter; two brothers, Frederick and Richard Winter; and granddaughter, Caitlin Festerling. Survived by children, Rev. Jon Buchholz (Sandy) of Phoenix; Joel Buchholz (Kimberly) of Peoria; and Julie Festerling of Tucson. Further survived by grandchildren, Katrina Bartsch (Ben), Dr. Carl Buchholz (Sarah), Brianna Fuller (Austin), Mark Buchholz (Tara), Kaleb Buchholz (Ari), Ruth Tuskowski (Paul), Corbin Festerling (Bryanna), and Caylee DeAnda; great-grandchildren, Sophia Bartsch, Leora Buchholz, Eleanor Tuskowski, and Leroy Bartsch; and nieces, nephews and friends. Christian funeral on May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., Redeemer Lutheran Church, 8845 N. Silverbell Rd, Tucson AZ 85743.
