Barbara J. (Wescott) Rydzewski, 90, of Montrose, Pa., passed away peacefully at Endless Mountains Health Systems (EMHS), Montrose, on July 1, 2020.
She was born in South Gibson, Pa., to Harold and Margaret (Pritchard) Wescott on March 13, 1930.
She is survived by her children, Susan Major, former State Rep. Sandra Major, Billie Kaye (David) Kraus and Stephen (Melanie) Major; and stepdaughter, Joy (Alex) Johnson. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jared Conklin, and Morgan and Colby Major; and stepgrandchildren, Justin and Alyvia Richel, and Brooke Johnson. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Janice Foran, and her niece and nephew, Renee and Greg Foran.
She was preceded in death by Anthony Rydzewski, her husband of 32 years; grandson, Bradley Conklin; and son-in-law, Anthony Cerasaro.
Barbara graduated from Harford High School, attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and graduated from Ridley-Lowell Business and Technical Institute, Binghamton. After more than 30 years, Barbara retired from a fulfilling career as Susquehanna County Court Administrator. She was an active member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Montrose, where she had been honored as Woman of the Year. She enjoyed her memberships in the Pennsylvania Federation of Republican Women, Montrose O.E.S. #151, the Friendship Club, as well as several bridge clubs and was a longtime member of the Montrose Club where she regularly golfed. Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Montrose, where she served as a deacon. She was very active in her community, working on many projects including funding for the construction and operation of EMHS.
Barbara cherished her many dear friendships, and especially loved her family. She took great joy in planning and preparing for holidays, and always made birthdays and holidays special for her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at EMHS and Dr. Ihab Dana for their care and compassion in the days preceding Barbara's passing.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bradley David Conklin Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains, 270 Lake Ave., Montrose, PA 18801; or to EMHS, 100 Hospital Drive, Montrose, PA 18801.
