Barbara Tipple Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 30, 2009.
Barbara Mae Dixon Tipple Barbara Mae Dixon Tipple, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. She was 80 years old. Barbara was born on September 7, 1928 in Noble, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Mabel Dixon. At the age of 5, she suffered 3rd degree burns over one quarter of her body while sitting too close to a water heater. Her probability of survival was very small. This defined the moment where God gave her strength (at times supernatural) to survive, even when things seemed impossible. Mom battled not only body burns, but breast cancer, scoliosis and neuropathy. She carried on through life with grace and dignity, never letting those around her know her suffering. Growing up, she had the love and compassion of her two dear siblings, Bud Dixon and Betty Dixon Peery, both preceding her in death. Barbara graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas, then went on to Oklahoma State University. Barbara's mother fell ill, causing her to drop out of school, in order to care for her mother in her last years of life. It was then that she met the love of her life, John G. Tipple. They wed on July 7, 1951. She totally devoted herself to her "honey" and to "her girls", Jonda and Linda. While Barbara and John lived in Houston, they became members of Tallowood Baptist Church. It was here that they established life-long friends who have traveled this journey of life with them. They were also blessed with their Austin church family: Hyde Park Baptist Church and Austin Baptist Church. All of those special friendships were treasured and cherished. Mom was a uniquely loving and caring person. Her priority in life was serving her Lord Jesus Christ first, then all the rest fell into line. She always looked on the bright and positive side of situations and very rarely had a negative word to say. She was a wonderful example of the Proverbs 31 Woman. Our Mom's favorite saying to us when things were not going well was, "Tomorrow will be a better day!" Today is finally that day for her. She will be greatly missed. We would like to give a very heartfelt thank you to Mom's "angels on earth", Rita, Angie, and Roxanne. They were truly God's gift to all of us during these past two years. Also, a grateful thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice, especially, Susan, Rose, Coco, Bobbie, Maria, and to Dr. Paul Stoufflet and his staff. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Jonda White and husband, Mark, and Linda McSpadden and husband, Sam; grandchildren, Bryan White and wife, Brittany, Aaron McSpadden and fiancée Heather Crowder, and Jenna McSpadden; and great- grandchildren, Kristen White, Blake and Bailey White. To greet Mom in heaven is her John (Sept. 20, 2008) and grandchild, Curtis White (Jan. 3, 1982). Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Baptist Children's Home, 1301 N. Mays, Round Rock, Texas 78664-2945, (512) 246-4225. The family has established a memorial website at www.MeM.com Please visit Barbara's site to view photos, tributes, sign the online guestbook and leave voice greetings.
