Bertha J. Celaya Cordova
91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2015, in Tucson, Arizona, joining her beloved husband, Rudolph Cordova and her daughter, Patricia (Gilbert) Flores. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Susan Pryor and Theresa Pavelich. Surviving sisters are Mary Celaya Robles and Emma Celaya McCarron. Siblings who preceded her in death, Susie, George, Oscar, Willie and Horace Celaya. She is survived by her six grandchildren, Nick Pryor, Anna Esquivel, Christina Savel, Julie Winn, John Flores and Felicia Minter and 18 great-grandchildren. Bertha was born on March 16, 1924, in Benson, Arizona. She retired from the University of Arizona library as a cataloger supervisor. Bertha was an ovarian cancer survivor and a loving caregiver of her beloved husband, Rudolph, for ten years. She will be best remembered for her faith and her devotion to her Third Order Lay Carmelites, her endearing devotion to her family, her passion for the UofA Wildcat Basketball Team, and her many stories of their family travels. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her well-lived life, donations can be made to the Tucson Community Food Bank. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, 9:00 - 9:30 a.m., Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m., Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 1300 N. Greasewood Rd., Tucson, AZ. 85745.
