Sue Lasiter

Betty Sue (Anderson) Lasiter, 81, of Corinth, TX, passed away Monday July 22, 2024, at her home in Corinth, Texas. She was born August 21, 1942, in Lubbock, TX, to Andy and Edna 'Babe' (Bird) Anderson.

Sue worked from the time she was old enough to walk and only stopped working when her health no longer allowed her to do so. As a young girl she worked on relatives' farms around Littlefield and Spade, TX in the cotton fields and feeding animals. When the family moved to Colorado she worked as a waitress and at the family grocery business. After high school she married the love of her life and childhood crush, John Reed Lasiter and they had two children together, Dean Lasiter, and Angela Lasiter. She and John both worked in telecommunications for many years. They moved from Littlefield to Perryton, TX, which she and John found too cold for their liking, followed by moves to Irving, TX, Lubbock, TX, Arizona, back to Irving, TX, and finally settling in their dream home they designed and helped build in Corinth, TX which is where she and John ultimately completed their lives work. Sue was also an entrepreneur, owning a store while working for the US Postal Service in Flagstaff, AZ before working for and eventually retiring from Sprint in Las Colinas, TX. Her biggest regret in life was not having become a teacher. Upon retirement she entered the Foster Grandparent program for Denton ISD and worked with kids at W.S. Ryan Elementary, thereby allowing her the opportunity to work in education and fulfilling her desire to give back to education. Beyond working, she enjoyed visiting family and friends, collecting heirlooms and Western memorabilia, loving on the many dogs and cats she had over the years, playing card and board games, and reading and teaching.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Angela Lasiter; 6 grandchildren, Jonathan Stafford (Juli) of Denton, TX, Jessica Stafford (Chelsea) of Lubbock, TX, Amanda Stafford of Corinth, TX, Shelbi Brown (Kody) of Rankin, TX, Shayna Solis (Roy) of Midland, TX, and Shawn Lasiter of Arlington, TX. Multiple great-grandchildren, including Lucas Ray who she got to spend the last 2 years going on summer adventures and chasing around the house. Multiple nieces and nephews, two of whom she had the opportunity to be a second mother to, Billy Anderson of Colorado, and Star (Anderson) Villaseñor of Odessa, TX, and a brother-in-law, Ray Lasiter of Santa Fe, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband John 'J.R.' Lasiter in 2012; a son, Johnny Dean Lasiter in 2017; granddaughter Laurin Sue Lasiter in 1993; parents; and her brother and sister, Bill Anderson and Janie (Anderson) Fowler.

A memorial was held on July 27, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Lake Dallas. Graveside services were held March 15, 2025 in Littlefield, TX where she was placed next to her beloved husband John, son Johnny Dean and her loyal dog BeBe.
