Betty Johns Sloan

Betty Johns Sloan, 78, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Tyler, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025. Born in Gilmer, Texas, on August 12, 1947, Betty was the beloved daughter of Thomas J. "Pat" Johns and Mary Elizabeth Sewell Johns. She grew up in Pittsburg, Texas.

Betty married E. Richard Sloan, and together they shared 47 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and companionship until his passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Elizabeth, her sister Barbara Ann Johns, and her husband Richard.

Betty is lovingly survived by her son, Jamie Sloan, and partner Andrew House of Dallas; brother, Robert Johns, and wife Jill of Paris; sister-in-law Rebecca Lovil and husband Michael of Tyler; niece Julia Johns Drake and husband Brad of McKinney; and nephew Jeffrey Johns of Paris, and Jeremy Wilder and Brooke and their children Brynn, Blake, and Barrett of Tyler; great-nephews: Kyler Drake and Delaney and their son Theo of Paris; Klayton Drake and Alexis and their daughter Francis of Fairview; Kollin Drake of Lubbock; Dakota Johns and Hailey of Paris; family Robbie "June" Brown of Bowling Green, KY; Scott & Ginger Young, Rogersville, TN; and Tony Morgan, Dallas.

The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to Martha and Julia at The Daleport House, for their dedicated, loving care and support.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A private family graveside service will follow.
