Brad Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 2, 2015.
Thomas Bradley Allen "Brad Allen," 44, of Henderson, passed away July 1, 2015, from complications due to cancer. Brad was born December 19, 1970, in Newport Beach, California. Brad was a loving husband, father, son and friend. Brad was a 1989 graduate of Valley High School in Henderson, and a graduate of UNLV in 1994. When Brad was eight, he would fall asleep listening to Vin Sculley, the announcer for the LA Dodgers on the radio. He continued the habit until his death, thus, his lifelong love of Dodger's baseball. Brad was a senior software architect at IBM and the holder of many patents. He was well-known for his dry sense of humor and the way his family always came first. He is survived by his wife, Kara; two daughters, Julia and Jenna; his mother, Sharon Haze of Henderson; his father, Thomas Paul Allen of Paso Robles, California; older sister, Leslie Tregear of Livermore, California; and beloved pets, Pumpkin and Ginger. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123. Come in traditional black. A Celebration of Life will follow at Brad's wife and children's home. Come in Dodger blue, or your Dodger gear. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Brad's name to the Brad Allen Sarcoma Cancer Fund www.gofundme.com/lvbradius.

I worked with Brad at SRD and then IBM for years. Working with many of the same team now at Senzing in 2021. We still think of him and speak of him and his name even came up this morning as we were going over a potential product feature and remembered some of his insight on the product use case from years ago. I still miss talking with Brad about the latest iPhone or other Apple gadgets when they would get announced and we would break down whether or not an upgrade was worth it. He was a great co-worker and friend and I hope his family is doing well. While I miss him, it is strange that I still feel his pretense -- especially when working on the product that was the fruit of so much of his labor.

Forever in our hearts....an amazing man whose journey ended too soon. Loving parents burying a child, a young woman too young to be a widow, children missing the hugs of their daddy. None of which should be happening. Try and take some comfort knowing all of you are not alone in your pain. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I know every Seahawks game I watch, Brad will be right there cheering with me. Goodbye my sweet friend, until we meet again.
