My precious Baby Boy the Lord has seen fit in His mercy to call you home. Your job here on earth is complete all your assignments done. Your battle fought now your victory is won. My heart's broken and tears will fall but I'll see you again when I too answer His call. Rest on Baby Boy, see you in the morning. Love always. Mama "T"

My prayers are with your family. We worked together for many years. You were always so supportive of me and provided a listening ear. I have so many memories of you and your one of a kind personality! You kept people laughing and kept a positive outlook on life no matter what was going on in your life. It didn't take much to put a smile on your face either especially if food was involved :-) Anyone who knew you knew your faith in God so I have no doubt that you are resting peacefully in heaven! RIP Sergeant Petty. Gone but never forgotten

Officer Petty was a bright light at UDC. We met him 10 years ago. His heart was pure and he made sure we were well protected At each campus, especially PR Harris in SE. He was a gentle giant and a gem! Rest well sir. Erika and Stephanie Poteat

I first met Petty at Friendship Public Charter School, where I taught an evening adult education class. He always made sure I got safely to my car. A few years later, I looked up and he was a uniformed officer on the UDC campusI was delighted to see him, and watched him quickly move up the ranks. He was well-respected on Campus, and I considered him a friend. I am so sorry for your loss. He truly will be missed.

Hard to believe that we won't have any more conversations as he did his rounds at UDC. He always had a word of encouragement and was good for a laugh or two or three. He is missed.

Hey Lil Brian, My cousin the comedian. Words are hard to find for all of the times we as a family shared. The impromptu music sessions on 22nd Street with Sonny, Mike, Louis, and others. Well son I am certainly going miss making you laugh when we weren't supposed to be joking around. You always smelled good and was neat and clean. You are now in a place where we will see you again smiling as always. Whose going to catch me now as you always opened your arms when I ran to you and you pretended to pick me up?

I used to look forward to seeing you on Campus. You were such a gentle giant! Your University of the District of Columbia family loved you but God loved you more. You fought a good fight. Now you can rest. You will be missed Big Petty (smiles).

He was a gentle, kind, and strong man, with a helping hand and beautiful smile. As a member of the UDC community, I didn't know him as well as family and friends, but well enough to feel the loss and pain for us all. May you find peace in knowing how well he was regarded and beloved by others. My deepest sympathies....

Our prayers and sympathy goes out to the Petty family with love.
Remember, though we know heaven has welcomed a very special person, our hearts still feel the sorrow.

I never stopped loving you, and you never stopped loving me, and we proved that to each other until the night, The Lord called you home. I enjoyed our last days together, especially the weekend when Rachael and I spent the night at your house. We had Sooo much fun. That night will forever play out in my mind..
We Loved you, but God Loved you Best.

RIH My Love...I will forever love you, and as we would always say to one another when we would depart...MUAHHH
