Brian Raymond Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2024.
Brian Kirk Raymond, 67, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2024, in Oak Hills, California. Born on January 1, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, Brian (Kirk) lived a life marked by warmth and community spirit.

Brian, Kirk as many knew him, grew up in El Monte, California. He attended La Primaria elementary school, and later attended Mountain View High School where he graduated in 1975. In 1975, Kirk attended Whittier College graduating in 1979 and went on to obtain his masters of business from the University of LaVerne.

Kirk was highly involved in athletics from a young age and was skilled in the art of Kung Fu as well as playing baseball, football, and basketball, before he found his love of playing soccer. Kirk played soccer in high school, college and on club teams until he was in his mid 40s. In addition, he was greatly involved in his children's athletic aspirations by coaching and serving on the board for Little League, as well as the booster club for cheer. Kirk also took up playing golf and poker both of which he continued to enjoy for the rest of his life.

While in college, Kirk was a member of the Orthogonian Society which impacted him throughout his life. It introduced him to the basic tenets (brains, brawn, bravery and brotherhood) of which were reinforced throughout his life at home and work. Those principals allowed him to take on projects and responsibilities with an attitude of confidence, assurance, reliability and consistency.

Kirk's career began in banking where he was entered into the management training program with Security Pacific Bank shortly after graduating college. His career path took off and he achieved many awards and promotions to end up as a Vice President in the commercial lending department of the bank. Kirk had a brief stint as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy within his banking career.

Kirk was loved and will be missed by many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Normand Weston Raymond, and his mother, Carol Mae (Ruud) Raymond. He is survived by his brother Michael Raymond and his sister in law Elizabeth Raymond, three children, and several grandchildren. Kirk is also survived by his partner, Cathy Conde, her children, April Hill, Eric Conde, Kristine McDermott, their spouses, and 6 grandchildren (Layla Hill, Bradley Hill, Holly Hill, James Conde, Connor Conde, and Alexander McDermott).

A celebration of Kirk's life is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 2pm to 6pm, with services beginning at 3pm. This gathering will be held at the home he shared with Cathy, located at 13152 Mission Street, Oak Hills, CA 92344. The event is intended to be a casual gathering, where friends and family can come together to share good memories, and laughter. We will celebrate a life well lived. For those unable to attend in person, participation via Zoom is possible. Please contact Cathy at [email protected] to receive a link to join the celebration remotely.

I have many good memories of visiting with Kirk and Mike in El Monte, when we were all kids! We were ((are) cousins. Loved visiting their family even though they were both younger. Hadnt seen either Kirk or Mike since their dad's funeral. My thought and prayers are with you all.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I had the pleasure of calling this man my friend for 40 years. We went through training together in banking and developed a friendship that lasted for decades. We spent countless hours together on the golf courses throughout the area. I will miss my friend very much.

I appreciate our time together. He even taught me a thing or two on the golf course, before he beat me. It was always great spending time with Kirk at family gatherings. He will be greatly missed. Rest easy my friend.
