A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE MACMILLAN UNIT & WARD 16 OF MK HOSPITAL Our mum Bridget "Bridie" Dolan was diagnosed with cancer late last year. Mum had received three successful sessions of chemotherapy via the Macmillan Unit. Whilst at home mum developed a problem with her legs and was admitted to Ward 16 at the Milton Keynes hospital for treatment. It was during this time that mum spent in ward 16 that her family would like to express' our thanks and gratitude to all the nurses, Macmillan nurses, auxiliary nurses, palliative nurses, consultants, doctors and surgeon. As well as all the other support staff that made Mums time very comfortable. Our mum was always bright and happy even though she knew the seriousness of her illness. The whole team of ward 16 seemed to notice this, and mum, so enjoyed getting to know you all. A Red Cross volunteer visited mum twice giving her a manicure, which mum just loved. Two nuns from the hospital chapel visited mum to offer words of support and encouragement. We would also like to thank a patient in a bed near to mum. We only know you as "Carol" and we know you are unwell yourself, but you never failed to ask after mum every day. We wish you good health and happiness. At all times the family was kept up to date on Mums status and her treatment. The family was consulted with on a regular basis. As Mums health deteriorated, the team on ward 16 could not do enough to ensure Mums comfort. They extended visiting hours so we could be with mum 24 hours a day. Our mum passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 23rd January 2008. The family will never forget the hard work, sensitive care and wonderful compassion administered to our mum by the team of ward 16. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
