Springfield, Missouri - Bruce L. Brock, 72, of Springfield, MO passed away on November 2, 2018 in his home. Bruce was born on August 31, 1946 in Springfield, MO. He graduated from Hillcrest High School on 1965. Bruce worked for MoDot; Greene County Highway Department ("Highway Man"); Twin Oaks country club; and various other companies; and, as a security guard including Midwest Security until illness prohibited it. Bruce retired after 31 years with Missouri Department of Transportation. He married Mrs. Joyce (Laugeson) Brock on October 24, 1968 in Springfield, MO.

Bruce was a member of High Street Baptist Church for over 50 years in the Young Marriage "Companion Classes", just grew older - together as a church family. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, helping in children's church, class room decorations; and directing traffic during Holiday Services. He also assisted others in fundraising events at church, he volunteered for Awanas Club where he dressed up as a clown on their zoo trip. He had fun in volunteering at Walmart #138 one year of making cotton candy and blowing up balloons for "MD".

Bruce has a unique way of making others laugh by imitating Donald Duck, W.C. Fields; and Mr. Magoo. He enjoyed making people laugh by taking his dentures out. Bruce loved to play "Santa" with his niece's and nephew's by wearing Santa's hat and ringing a long strap of Christmas bells.

Bruce received a Service Award for 20 years of faithful service with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department; and a 30-year honorary pin as well.

Bruce enjoyed telling stories about his deer hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. He also loved competing in making fly-fishing lure's and crappie jigs with his brother-in-law, Gary; he also enjoyed bowling with co-workers and friends. Bruce enjoyed drives with his wife, Joyce, and while she was taking pictures of wildlife, birds, or farm animals, he was imitating animal sounds until he says, "Enough is enough."

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents: Clifford (Bud) and Helen Brock, sister Peggy (Brock) Lewis, brother Larry Brock, sister Sherry (Brock) Rimer, grandparents Opha and Frank Glenn, and his very close Aunt Reba and Uncle Pete Peterson; and many other beloved family members and friends. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of 50 years, his sister Kathy Brock, brother-in-law Gary Rimer, nephew Warren (Teresa) and their 2 sons, niece Lisa Brock, niece Beth Owens (Eric) and their son, nephew Jonathan Rimer, niece Sarah Hardy (Chris) and their children, niece Tracy Stark (Rex) and their children, one son-in-law and 2 great-grandchildren; uncle Bill and many other family members.

The family wishes to "Thank" all those who encouraged Bruce during his illness and for all those that visited, prayed, or sent greeting cards; to all those that provided medical assistance and care: We are all especially grateful.

Visitation for Bruce will be on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Also, a short visitation for Bruce will be on Saturday, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to the service starting at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to High Street Baptist Church at 900 Eastgate Springfield, Missouri 65802.

I am not sure if or when any family members will see this but wish you ALL to know how saddened I am to find out about the home-going of Bruce or Bubba as he was affectionately called. My sister that lives in Springfield informed me today of his passing and I am so very sorry to hear of it. He will be greatly missed but is with the Lord and we know we will see him again. I will be praying for each of you. God bless each of you and continue to comfort you during this time of loss.
