Bruce Covan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 20 to Jul. 21, 2023.
Bruce Norman Covan, 53, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2023 in Austin, Texas. Bruce was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1969, the second son of William and Norma (Heil) Covan. Bruce was a proud 1988 graduate of Poland (OH) Seminary High School. Some of his favorite times were spent with his Dad and brothers on their annual fall deer hunting trips to southern Ohio, and spending time with his family and friends. Bruce fiercely cheered for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Alabama Crimson Tide football teams and enjoyed tormenting his Dallas Cowboy and Big Ten-loving family members. Bruce was a fun and loving son, brother and father, who always had a wisecrack to add as the last word.

Bruce is survived by his mother, Norma Covan of Struthers, Ohio; his children: Justin (Rachel) Covan of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Allison and Zachary Covan of Boardman, Ohio; Jordan Covan of College Station, Texas; and Jack and Leah Covan of Georgetown, Texas. He had 1 grandson, Case Covan also of Boardman and would have welcomed his first granddaughter, Harper Covan in a few months. He also leaves his siblings, Brent (Cherie) Covan of Boardman, Ohio; Brandon (Kim) Covan of Austintown, Ohio, and Heather (Nick) Clinkscale of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Covan, (2009) as well as his grandparents; William and Sue Covan of Alabama and Norman and Evelyn Heil of Struthers, Ohio. A public memorial service will take place at the Struthers church of Christ at a date to be determined followed by a private family service.
