Bruce E. Keffer

Bruce E. Keffer, 70, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, in UPMC Mercy, Uptown. He was born Dec. 6, 1944, in Frazer Township, a son of the late William and Irene Rego Keffer. Prior to his retirement, Bruce was a police canine officer for the North Huntingdon Township Police Department with 27 years of service, and a veteran of the Army, having served during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the White Oak Gun Club and the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying target shooting, camping and antique cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Keffer. He is survived by his wife, Christy Kauffman Keffer; sons, Dylan and Bruce Jr.; daughter, Kelli Curran; brothers, Jack, John, Fred and Barry; granddaughter, Haley; father-in-law, Robert Kauffman; and brothers-in-law, John (Molly) and Rob (Debbie) Kauffman.
Friends will be received from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. The Fraternal Order of Police Allegheny Lodge 39 will conduct a service at 7 p.m., followed by a funeral service with Pastor Nate Patnode officiating.
