Bruce Sartwell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 6, 2018.
CONCORD-Bruce Sartwell passed away after several years of declining health, Bruce died peacefully in his sleep on January 5 while vacationing in Florida. He was 70 years old. He attended Concord schools graduating from Concord High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Army in 1966, several months short of his 18th birthday. During his four years of service he was deployed to Vietnam (68-69) where he served with courage and honor. He was a US Army Ranger – Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP), receiving a Bronze Star for Valor. Once his tour of duty concluded he returned and attended St. Anselm College, graduating in 1974. Bruce's employment history includes security management, investigations and law enforcement. He loved to tell stories from his days as Chief Investigator with the NH Public Defenders Office.

Bruce had many interests, flying was one and he clocked over 500 air miles and obtained his private pilot's license. He was an avid skier and loved skiing Mt. Sunapee where he was a member of the NH Ski Patrol and a certified ski instructor. It was his dream to ski one more time. He enjoyed driving his Mini Cooper on sunny days with the top down singing along to the Beatles, Beach Boys and music of the 60's. In 2002 he married the love of his life, Andrea Goldberg. They bought a home in Concord where they resided with their trusted companions, Tess and Jack, Golden Retrievers and a little brown dog named Bob. Bruce and Andrea loved to travel and explored Europe, Africa, South America, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States. When not traveling, they were content to spend weekends on their boat, the DiDi Mau on Lake Winnipesauke. Bruce loved and treasured his friends and family and knew how much they loved him.

Bruce leaves his wife, Andrea Goldberg of Concord; a son, Bruce Jr.; a daughter in law, Jessie; two wonderful grandchildren, Delaney and Max of MA; his mother, Eva Sartwell; his mother in law Estelle Goldberg; his brothers, Doug (Sherri Ferns) of Sunapee, Tom (Deb Gagnon) of Canterbury, Barry (Mary Suitor) of Loudon; his sisters, Ann (John Hondrogen) of western MA, Deb (D.J.) (Bill Luneau) of Concord and his youngest sister Martha of Concord.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Sartwell and his father in-law, Raymond Goldberg of NY.

Calling hours will be held at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St. Concord, on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 10AM to 12PM with a Service of Remembrance to follow. A spring burial will take place at the NH State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to "Pets for Vets," PO Box 10860, Wilmington, NC 28404.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at https://www.BennettFuneral.com for the family of Bruce Sartwell.
