Bruce White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 24, 2015.
Dr. Bruce David White went to be with our Lord on August 24, 2015. He was born on December 17, 1943 in Dobbs Ferry Hospital. Bruce spent his formative years growing up in the lovely (and then rural) community of Oscawana on the Hudson, NY. He attended schools in Hendrick Hudson District #3 system. Bruce went to high school at Scarborough Country Day School and finished high school at Concordia Preparatory School in Bronxville, NY graduating there in 1961. Bruce matriculated to Trinity College in Hartford, CT. From there he attended Case Western University Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio where he received a doctorate degree in medicine. Bruce practiced in Taunton, MA, Batavia/Rochester, NY, and Corpus Christi, TX. where he gained distinction as a noted emergency room specialist. Bruce retired in 2000 and returned to Mahopac, NY to enjoy his retirement years. Bruce was a voracious reader, enjoyed playing chess and was an avid gardener while he was able. He is survived by his brother, Gary White of Montrose, NY, nieces Kristina Nix (nee White) of Wappingers Falls, NY and Devon White of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are four great nephews Sean, Brian, Stephen and Eric. In addition, cousins Mark and Marilyn White, Nancy and Judy Lockwood and Ron Bonini. Growing up Bruce attended the Boscobel Methodist Church in Oscawana on the Hudson, NY and more recently the Yorktown United Methodist Church, Yorktown Heights, NY. Bruce will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, especially at Christmastime when he delighted in seeing everybody receive many, many exciting and unexpected gifts. His loving heart and brilliant mind will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Cancer Society and/or and The National Kidney Foundation. A memorial service will be held at Yorktown United Methodist Church on Rte. 202, (2300 Crompond Rd.) Yorktown Heights, NY on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11 a.m.
