I still think about D all the time... How he always had a smile for us, no matter what. The jokes relaxed me. I knew that I could tell him anything. Yeah, he may be disappointed in me, but that was because he truly CARED, even when no one else did. He was always encouraging and motivating, and he made me believe I could do better than I thought. He made me believe I WAS better than I thought. I wish I had gone to visit more... God knows I could use more of that influence in my life

If it wasn't for Mr. D, I can say with much confidence, that I'd be dead or behind bars. As a youth with no positive male influences, I was heading down dark roads. Mr D. took me under his wing as a youth, mentored and tutored me after school, and made me the man I am today; a college graduate, running a small business, starting a family of my own. I thank you Mr D. Thank you for being so much more than a teacher, a role model to live life by.

Mr.D... Wow what a man to say the least I had him as my 6th grade teacher 1989 at Catherine Everett Elementay. This man touch my life. I remember the day I went to the school to see who my teacher was going to be for 6th grade when I seen it was him I screamed lol... I remember praying to god the night before that he would be my teacher. He was an awesome man. He could always turn my frawn upstide down. I was very poor and very tall when I was in 6th grade and I was teased all the time I can remember after lunch going to class with tears in my eyes and he would take me aside and talk with me tell me that i would be something someday. Thank you Mr D I have never ever forgot you. thank you Mr D... just thank you! Love always Sherry Poe Modesto, CA

Mr. D was my fifth grade teacher at Enslen Elementary school twenty two years ago. What an impact he made in my life, I always walked into his class knowing I was going to learn something and it would be fun! Most of my childhood school memories were from his class. We had a talent show, we took a field trip to the park where we took a picture with Ronnie Lott of the 49ers, we made a time capsule we are to open in about three years, and he would hide money in our classroom in hopes that one of us would find it by the end of the year. He always kept us on the tips of our toes! I was saddened to hear of his passing today, when my mother told me the news. We will all be thinking of him when we open the time capsule, and how he was a friend and an inspiration to all of us, not just a teacher!

My wife Erika Gibbs worked with Tim for many years at Catherine Evertt School as the cafeteria manager. She paid tribute to him in the video. I would like to add a few words of my own.
I met him at various school functions and at Sal's crab feeds in Lodi. He was a great guy-always very friendly. At his celebration of life I realized how many people's lifes he had touched. Not only his education colleagues and students, but janitors, yard duties, cafeteria workers and many more. His family must be very proud of him.
Sincere sympathy,

It is amazing to read these entries and to see so many names that I recognize - staff, students, and parents. Mr. D influenced and impacted many of our lives, and when I started my own journey of teaching 6th grade, I thought of him and the experiences that I had while in his class. As a student, I knew that Mr. D was awesome, but it wasn't until later in my school career that I realized how amazing he was. I now understand and appreciate the amount of time, dedication, and love that he put into our classroom. Mr. D - thank you.

I knew Mr. Donohue when our two sons attended Catherine Everett Elementary School in the 1980s, and I was PTA president. He was always very supportive of PTA and of all the students, not just his own. I remember his leadership of the traffic patrol and School Site Council. He was a gifted teacher who will be greatly missed by everyone.

When I think of Tim I have many happy memories. He was a good friend in high school and always fun, making me laugh a lot. The last time I saw Tim was in the grocery store when he followed me around talking as I shopped and eating the groceries out of my cart! He was a wonderful person. Blessings to his family.

Mr. D has a special place in my heart. He will truly be missed. He is in a better place now and we will one day meet again. Mr.D was the best teacher I have ever known. I never got the honor of being in his 6th grade class at Everett but I had the honor of knowning him well my whole life. We share the same birthday Nov 10th. Every year that I went to Everett he would pull me out of class to join his class in the celebration of our birthdays. Also every year when I was little my family and I would go to Mr. D's home for halloween. He already knew we were coming and had surprise bags of candy, chips, and soda waiting for my sister and I. He truly lit up the room when he enter. I will miss his fun, exciting, and creative personality. Rest In Peace! Love Always!

Mr. D was my sixth grade teacher in 1988 and made a lasting impression on my life. Even in junior high my friends and I would walk hours after school just to go say hi to Mr. D. Mr D touched our lives thru several of our kids being in his class and also by avidly supporting my husband when he ran for city council many years ago. He was such an inspiration to all. He made you believe in yourself, that you could do whatever you wanted to do. As has been said already, he is a model of what a teacher should be. We are so grateful for the opportunity to know this gentle giant and for having his encouragement on our endeavors. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am SO blessed to have had Mr. D for two years in a row (1987, 1988) for 5th AND 6th grade. Mr. D was and will always be my true inspiration for becoming an elementary teacher myself. His dedication towards students, friends, and family are unbelievable. Mr. D will always be remembered for his big smile, positive attitude, nicknames, and a bonus to me for hiding/finding money in class. He opened me up to speak in public and wanting to go to class each and every day. Everett will never be the same without you... wanting to say hello when my own children attend. Mr. D, you will forever be in my heart, memories, and an inspiration that will forever last a lifetime. Your family is so lucky to have had a man so genuine, caring, and dedicated in their lives. My family will miss you Mr. D, yet never forget you. You have touched so many lives and will continue to do so. Thoughts and prayers are with your family. May the memories help you through such a difficult time. You are and will always be my #1 teacher.

My thoughts are with the Donohue family! Mr. D was by far my favorite teacher, for so many reasons! He was an amazing man and had a larger than life personality! I have wonderful memories of sixth grade! I visited Mr. D a few years ago to introduce him to my two boys and he introduced me to his class. I noticed in the corner of the classroom, a picture my father had painted for our class, still hung on
the wall. He will forever hold a special place in my heart and I can only hope my children get to experience an inspirational teacher like Mr. D!!

Mr.D was the best teacher i have ever had. He was an amazing person on the inside && out. i have the best time ever when i was in his class. He always messed around with me && joked. Mr. D was one funny man! He touched my life, && i'm sure many others. Everyday i was excited to go to school, so i could go to his class. i tried my hardest to come visit him when i got into junior high. Every time i would see him, he always had a big smile on his face. i think he was the happiest man ever. When i found out about his cancer, i completely broke down. He was someone special, && i will never ever forget about him. he will always be in my heart. Mr. Donohue is in a better place now, && not suffering. i wish i could have at least got to see him one last time. We love && miss you!! RIP, gone but never forgotten <3

His battle against cancer must have truly been Herculean... and that fact really strikes a cord with me. The first time I ever interracted with D in the class room, we were on the subject of Greek folklore and he had said something like "Hercules is one of the sons of Zeus" to which I added "and the D's twin brother". He replied with "Ooo, that Posada man! That's right!" And that's how I got my nickname for the year. He was an incredible inspiration, the greatest teacher, the greatest role model, and the greatest friend anyone could have ever asked for. The world has lost one of its greatest human beings in the D. Love you D, and thankyou for impacting the lives of me, my brother, and countless other children. <3

Mr. D you will always hold a special place in my heart. Im so sorry for your family's loss. You are all in my prayers. Im also one of the lucky ones in Mr. D's 6th grade class, many years ago. He was such a great teacher and I enjoyed my 6th grade year. He really had a different way of touching everyones heart and seeing there full potential. I know I tried harder in school because he believed in me.
Thank you for that Mr. D.

Mr. D was my 5th grade teacher (because he taught a 5-6th grade combination class 1995-1996) and I will never forget how much fun he made it! Truly one of the best teachers I have ever had. Who could ever forget the teacher that gave out money and pepsi? :-) He gave me the nickname of "the package deal" and I think it was because I was always with my friend, who was the same size as me at the time. Mr. D. always knew how to make everyone laugh. I looked back in my yearbook and found what he had written to our class as a goodbye and it fits perfectly. I definitely took a small part of that classroom experience with me through life. Thank you Mr. D (aka The Old Man) RIP.

Timmy was my cousin and my friend. I have many wonderful memories of Timmy and I growing up. But like families do we grow and go our seperate ways. After reconnecting in the 90's, we were a family again. Family gatherings, holidays or just visiting each other. And after every encounter Tim ended things on the same note: A big bear hug and an "I love you George". What that means to me now and meant to me then keeps my spirit soaring. So I cannot say goodbye to Tim. He is with me now and forever. I love you Tim. I love you Rita. I love you Kelly. I love you Shannon. I love you Aunt Betty. I love you Michael, Julie and boys. A big bear hug to everyone.

It's difficult to put into words just how special Mr. D was. He touched so many young lives at Everett, my daughter being one of them. Those who knew him had a deep respect and admiration for him. He was a big guy who had the most tender heart. My sister, daughter, and nieces had the pleasure of being in his class at Everett. My son was very saddened to know that he wouldn't get the opportunity to be in his class next year:( Mr. D affectionately gave my daughter, Brooke, the nickname Broken, that still remains a hidden joke within our family. My entire family and I will always remember the favorite, funny, teacher that he was. We offer our deepest condolences to his family during this extremely difficult time. Just know that he will leave a lasting impression on soooo many lives. We will truly miss you, Mr. D.
