Mrs Carol Simms Fincham, of Lower Delves Farm, Pit Lane, Shirland, has died at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, aged 65.
Born at Heanor and a resident of the area for 43 years, she lived at Swanwick and spent her childhood in Alfreton.
She started work in the family road construction business, Better Roads Ltd, and went on to become managing director of Parkin and Jones Motors Ltd. She was also a director of Shirland Golf Club after founding it with her husband in the early 1970s. She retired four years ago.
Mrs Fincham actively supported many charities, serving on the Alfreton Cancer Research Committee, providing therapeutic care for the Red Cross, and also worked as a Samaritan.
She was a member of the Ladies Circle and Tangent, as well as supporting the WI.
Mrs Fincham also had a passion for gardening, foreign travel and enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and cooking.
She leaves a widower Peter Arnold, one daughter Sharlaine and two grandchildren Spike and Dixie.
The funeral has taken place.
