Dr. Carl A. Costanza, Jr., 92

1930 - 2022

Swampscott - Carl Albert Costanza, Jr. of Swampscott died peacefully at home in the loving arms of his family on March 3, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine Costanza with whom heshared 47 years of marriage. He was the son of Yolanda and Carl A. Costanza Sr. of Revere, MA. He was the father of Lorrie D'Alelio and husband John of Swampscott and Lianne Stati and husband Dino of Swampscott. He was the brother of Edmond Costanza and his wife Grace of Lynnfield and the late Adrian Costanza and his wife Barbara of Swampscott.

He graduated from Revere High School, Class of 1947 before attaining his undergraduate degree at Boston College, Class of 1951. Following this, he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Loyola University in Chicago, graduating in 1955. He served in the Air Force as a Captain, stationed at Hickham Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Carl and his family were members of Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead, MA since 1960 where they enjoyed many family events and friendships. Carl practiced family dentistry where he specialized in working with children for over 58 years, retiring at age 85. He treasured all of those who took part in his practice especially Bonnie, who worked by his side for 53 years and was like a third daughter to him, as well as his nephew Craig who took over his dental practice after retirement. Through his practice he built a loving community in which he was known for his gentle, kind and patient ways.

Carl was called by many names such as, Dad, Carlos, Grampy, Peeps, Uncle and Doc. He was a lover of many hobbies including baseball, gardening, golf and most importantly watching his grandkids at sporting events, most recently, "Go Spartans and Islanders Hockey!"

He was devoted to his wife Lorraine until her passing in 2002. He was elated to welcome his grandchildren, Emily Generazzo of Sarasota FL, Julia and Alyssa Stati of Swampscott and Jack, whom he lived with. He was the loving Uncle to Dr. Craig Costanza and wife Libby of Revere, Caren D'Agnese and husband Steve of Rowley, Guy Costanza and the late Joe Costanza, both of Lynnfield. He was the great-uncle to Alec and Matthew Costanza, Marco D'Agnese, and Yolanda Costanza. Carl supported his immediate and extended family in every way possible including dance recitals, horse shows, softball games, hockey tournaments, high school and college graduations and was the much appreciated chauffeur to any and all events. He was ultimately the most generous, kind, and unselfish soul and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him
