I didn´t know Carl as an actor. I met him after he´d mostly retired from acting. He was my insurance person for about thirty years. He took care of me and my family. He was so kind. I still think of him a few times a year, whenever insurance comes up and I remember different times and a man of great character, compassion, and warmth. I think I´ll look up some of his acting roles.

I just saw Mr. Carl Reindel in an episode on the "Perry Mason" show. I was just curious to see if he was still in television. I saw that he had passed on back in `09. RIP Mr. Reindel. God bless.

I love watching Carl in Gunsmoke as Cale and Dave in Deputy Fetus. I like the cool tone demeanor in his voice. A great actor who didn't get enough recognition. He should have won Emmy's for supporting actors.

There was a special quality within Carl Reindel that made his performances more memorable than many other actors. Carl made it look natural and effortless. It was as if he wasn't acting at all! Indeed, he was very gifted. May he rest in peace.

I saw Carl yesterday, Labor Day 9-7-20 on INSP's 65th Anniversary of 'Gunsmoke'
marathon as 'Cale' in the 'Gunsmoke' episode 'The Search.' Today I saw Carl in a episode that I had never seen before. 'Cheyenne' episode 'Man Alone.' I remember seeing him as a kid on a school trip watching the movie 'Tora, Tora, Tora.' Talented actor. I am surprised he never made it really big time. But he was successful.

Just saw Carl again on one of my favorite Gunsmoke episodes, as Cale. Had a crush on him after that episode. I don't know how Amanda Blake was able to fake outrage when he grabbed her twice and kissed her. You'll never know what you missed Marshal Dillon.

I saw Carl for the first time on Gunsmoke in the Cale episode this week, and I fell in love with his performance. I was so moved that I looked him up and discovered what a nice career he had and how much he was loved. I am also surprised how many people had similar experiences to mine. I plan to watch many of his other performances now.
Rest in peace, Carl. BbM

I first saw Carl in an episode of "Gidget". After looking him up I came across some other shows that he is in that I enjoy, like: "Perry Mason", "The F.B.I.", and "Ironside". He is also in one of my favorite Elvis Presley Films: "Speedway". I think Hollywood lost a great talent when Carl left. MAY HE REST IN PEACE WITH THE LORD.

Cale in Gunsmoke. Pleased to find it showing today cuz I wanted to collect info re other work of a very fine actor. The man knew just what was called for in this part, I feel the screenwriter had no idea that Reindel's talent & effort would create the success of that Gunsmoke episode. As I skipped back to see the entire last scene again, I knew Weaver & Arness as well as other performers & crew as well, were gathered on location & set likely paying strong attention watching Carl Reindel work his scenes. Look again toward end, scene in the old farmer's barn, after Cale defeats the real bad guy. Watch Cake talk to the old man he thought had died -- with the ingae of young Cale in his dying mind. Cake is leaning against a post, panting from exertion, watch his so very natural effect, small but so effective moves/gestures & speech expected . . . too done in to move, even to turn his head yet to face the old man. Excellent & mindful creative complilation of small things,
gestures, in effort to speak as he is so relieved he did what was needed, for the job done as was his intention & old guy is still alive.
Seems as though there could have been a successful series .... Cale. "Cowboy teacher of life sorts." Can see that just perhaps "this particular Cale character" may have overwhelmed Arness's Dillion. Still, with Ken Curtis' Festus Hagen portrayal - can see the entertaining episode potential - poignant, dramatic & comical, all written with
Cale, Chester Good & Festus Hagen all participating.

I saw Carl in so many films and finally found his name in the credits on Perry Mason. One of my best friends that I grew up with could pass for his twin brother. Carl was one of my favorite character actors. You knew that was him in real life. Azstc really likeable person that would be a pleasure to know.

I worked on the picture Bullitt with Carl and we did our laundry together every Saturday night, in San Francisco, together. He left acting and became the best insurance agent ever. He raised his son Michael, on his own and was a very caring father. We were the best of friends with birthdays a few days apart...I was one year older! I moved from California to Oregon and not long after I moved, Carl passed away. He was the best and I miss him.

Always thought that Cale should have been added as a regular character. Can think of many different situations where he would have added so much to the other characters.
He was a great actor.

I was lucky to know Carl for 10 yrs. or more. After leaving acting he became an insurance agent & fortunately my insurance agent. I also consider him a friend & hope he thought of me that way. He was one of the best & kindest men I ever knew. When I learned of his death I was stunned... & immensely saddened. Now I find myself looking for TV shows he appeared in as an actor. I truly miss Carl to this day.

I came across this lovely tribute page from just having watched THE episode that so many keep commenting on, and having always been so thoroughly impressed by THAT character, I finally decided to look Carl up to see what all else he had been on - The best shows, for sure! That laugh, that persona, the arresting charmer...He was a true talent...and yes, I was so very saddened to hear of his early passing. My sincere condolences to his family, and my heartfelt prayers, with love, from yet another one of his many blessed fans. God bless. XO

He was kind of a curio. We never knew what he was thinking. One of those guys who made Hollywood what it is. We all knew his face, but few of us knew his name. He had a fantastic smile.........which we saw all to seldom. God rest his soul. Thanks for your work ..........................
