Carol Ehrlich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2025.
Carol Ann Ehrlich (née Hauser), a devoted wife, beloved stepmother, cherished sister, aunt, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Carol leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and lifelong learning.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Fanny Hauser, and by her beloved husband, Jack, with whom she shared many joyful years. Together, Carol and Jack built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They made their home near the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago-a city Carol adored. She held a deep affection for her hometown, and she and Jack traveled the world hand in hand, creating memories that reflected their shared curiosity and zest for life.

Carol spent over 25 years as a teacher, shaping the minds and hearts of countless students. She approached her work with dedication, compassion, and a belief in the power of education to change lives. Her influence extended well beyond the classroom, as she inspired many to dream bigger and reach higher.

She is survived by her stepchildren Craig Ehrlich, Rhonda Ehrlich, Ilene Green, and Mitchell Ehrlich, as well as her brother Philip Hauser, sister in law Eileen, her nephews Brian and Mark Hauser, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her family and former students will remember her as a woman of warmth, intellect, and quiet strength.

Carol's life was one of service, joy, and deep connection. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Anixter Center of Chicago. An organization advocating for the rights of people with disabilities that Carol supported with great passion.

I admire Carol for the many years she spent caring for her failing mom. I have precious memories of the 6 of us (her and Jack, the Fawells and the Roccos) attending breakkfast buffets at Drury Lne. You will be missed, Carol.

Rest In Peace, Grandma Carol! Hillary and I were glad we got to celebrate your 81st Birthday on June 27th, and you were able to meet your great-granddaughter! You lived a long, fruitful life of being an educator, spreading love and joy to those you encountered. I fondly remember visiting you and Grandpa Jack at your Chicago condo, and seeing the Blue Man Group, visiting Navy Pier and when Grandpa hooked me up with a behind the scenes cooking demo at Bistrot Margot, because one of my career goals was to become a chef.

Grandpa Jack passed in 2015 and now you and he are able to be back together again. Love you!
