Carol Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2023.
Carol L. Smith, 82, of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Quality Life Services-Chicora Medical Center.
She was born March 21, 1940, in Furnace Run, and was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Margaret (Lemmon) Holmes. Carol was raised in Fenelton and attended Butler High School.
She previously attended Christ Community Chapel in Worthington.
Carol was employed as a waitress for 31 years at the Snack Bar in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
She married Carl A. Smith Sr. on Nov. 9, 1956, and resided in Worthington.
Carol provided unconditional love to her family. She was a kind and gentle soul, who enjoyed laughter with family and friends. Carol enjoyed traveling, camping, and trips to the shore with her cousin, Barb, who was like a second sister. Holmes County, Ohio, was one of her favorite places to visit. She also enjoyed day trips to Volant, Smicksburg and evening visits with her friends, Cathy and Rose. Carol liked having coffee with Tootie and Linda at the Old Worthington Drugstore.
She is survived by her son, Carl A. Smith Jr., and daughter, Marci L. Smith, of Worthington; her sister, Karen (Dolly) (Richard) Bayer of Fenelton; her cousin, Barbara (Sonny) Harter of Kittanning; two brothers in-law, Earl Smith of Butler, and Wayne (Nancy) Smith of Worthington; and two sisters in-law, Ester Neupert and Ruth (Joe) Gaggini of Worthington.
She was Aunt Carol to many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Carol also leaves behind her beloved dog, Roman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Smith Sr., who passed away on May 28, 1989; and her brothers, Charles A. Holmes and Wallace Holmes.
Carol fought a long, hard battle with dementia and Parkinson's. The family would like to thank all of the people who loved and cared for her at Quality Life Services-Chicora and Sugarcreek Rest, Amidisys Hospice and Three Rivers Hospice.
SMITH - Family and friends of Carol L. Smith, who died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon Saturday at F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington.
