Chad Erickson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2014.
February 26, 1970 ~ January 31, 2014
Chad Glenn Erickson, 43, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 from complications related to cancer.
Born on February 26, 1970 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kelly Glenn Erickson and Robin Jean Popham-Erickson, Chad enjoyed his childhood in Rose Park and Cottonwood Heights. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1988 and then attended Dixie State College, Utah Valley Community College, and College of Eastern Oregon where he played baseball on scholarship.
Chad lived most of his adult life in Davis and Morgan County, and most recently resided in West Jordan while caring for his grandfather. He found a career as a professional salesman and used his gift of persuasion in the automotive, advertising and marketing, and high school sports recruiting fields.
His career as a salesman brought him the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. Whether on a cruise, a plane, or hauling a fifth wheel behind his Ford F250, Chad gained a deep appreciation of the western states throughout his travels.
As an all-American outdoorsman, Chad dedicated much of his free time to hunting, fishing, and camping. He was also a dedicated sports enthusiast of football, baseball, basketball, and golf. His favorite teams were the Chargers and the Utah Utes.
While Chad's short life did not come without challenges, he always managed to have a positive attitude and possessed a special gift to find something to like in anything and anyone. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, his beloved dog, Jackson, spending time with his two sons, his friends and family, and hot sauce.
Chad is survived by his sons, Tanner and Caden, his sister, Annie Cheney (Brian), his mother, Robin Jean Popham Erickson, his grandfather, Robert Popham, his long-time companion and friend, Sherree Durastanti, and his beloved dog, Jackson. He is preceded in death by his father, Kelly Glenn Erickson, his grandmothers, LuJean Brown Erickson and Jeanne Popham, and his grandfather, Glenn C. Erickson.
Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing held on Wednesday, February 5 from 6-7:30 pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 6 at 11:00. A viewing will be held Thursday prior to services from 10-10:45 am. Both the viewing and the services will be held at the Memorial Estates Chapel located at 6500 So. Redwood Road in West Jordan, UT. Services are under the direction of Heideman Hughes Mortuary. (801)-216-4644. Online condolences may be left at www.HeidemanHughesMortuary.com
*The family asks that those attending not apologize for the loss of Chad, but rather remember the happy and fun memories of his life.*

I will always remember Chad's big laugh that only belonged to him, as it was that unique. Together, we battled in all kind of sports both at Brighton and in college and I choose to remember Chad playing first base with a giant smile on his face! Rest in peace, my friend.

Chad, we will miss you. I will always remember you were the tallest player on our Little League, and Brighton High School Football team. We played well and won nearly every game up through our sophomore year. You protected our quarterback Tig Brown well. We will always remember those fun football games together with you. Stephen Cook
