Chad WARREN Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Dec. 3 to Dec. 4, 2009.

WARREN Chad, Clark February 11, 1975 - November 28, 2009 After 9 years of an intense and determined battle, Chad has quietly succumbed to Multiple Myeloma. Chad was a rare individual who touched so many people in a meaningful and lasting way. He leaves an immense void in the lives of his family and friends. Chad is survived by the love of his life, Megan Williams, his parents, Clark and Sandy, his sister Jennifer (Bill Stadel), niece Lauren and nephew Ben. Memories of his life will be cherished by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from around the world. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Nantel, his associates, the nurses and specialists who provided Chad with such extraordinary care while he was a patient in the VGH Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Chad spent countless hours at the Krall Day Care Clinic, and we know how much he appreciated their special care and concern for him. Also thanks to the anonymous donor who selflessly donated marrow for Chad's two bone marrow transplants, and to his close friend Katharine Sedgwick who was there for Chad during his first diagnosis and transplant. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hollyburn Country Club (950 Cross Creek Rd, West Vancouver), on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Blood Disorders/Hematology Clinical Trials Unit at VGH in Chad's memory. Cheques can be made out to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. (Comment line: HCTU - Chad Warren). VGH/UBC Hospital Foundation, 855 West 12th Ave, Vancouver BC, V5Z 1M9. Online donations can be made at: www.tinyurl.com/chads1million . ("In Memory": Chad Warren). His family and friends encourage everyone to register as a bone marrow/organ donor and to take the time to donate blood on a regular basis.

To the family, friends and loved ones of Chad,

I wish to express my deep felt sorrow and condolences at the passing of Chad. I had the pleasure of getting to know Chad when working at Gearbulk in Vancouver and we met several times over the years to follow. Chad was one of those rare people, who touched and moved all around him with an indomitable spirit to succeed whatever odds life may have dealt. He shall remain forever an inspiration to many.

I am saddened to learn of Chad's passing and wish to send my condolences to the Warren Family. Chad and I knew each other well throughout high school. We shared many a basketball game and countless nights out having fun during the early nineties. Today I look back to those times to say thank you to Chad for the laughter and memories.

So sorry to hear of Chad's passing, but inspired to hear of his courageous and determined battle. I hadn't seen Chad in a long long time, but always remember him as a fun, outgoing and caring person. I was saddened to hear of his passing and am thinking of him now.

Thanks for teaching me how to live in spite of circumstance. Because of you I will always remember that my strength of character must always prevail no matter how difficult the challenges that might be ahead. Your character, determination, and positive view of life were like none other and I'm so grateful our paths crossed. God Bless.
