Charles Edwards Obituary
Charles was a proud member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and remained active within the tribal community throughout his life. His dedication to his heritage and community was a defining part of who he was. Whether through participation in cultural events or lending a helping hand where needed, Charles's presence was felt and appreciated by many.
He had a deep love for the water-fishing and quahogging were among his favorite pastimes. The ocean was not just a backdrop to his life but a source of joy and peace. Summers often found him working at the Barnstable County Fair, where he enjoyed being part of the vibrant local tradition year after year.
Family meant everything to Charles. He is survived by his sisters Marlene Edwards of Holyoke Ma, Sharon St. Pierre of Hyannis Ma. Gail Jean of Mashpee Ma. and his brother Ervin Edwards of Sandwich Ma. He also leaves behind his beloved children: Candida Pina of Wareham; Charles Fonceca of California; Caprice Edwards of Sandwich; Carmen Baptiste of Middlesex Stephanie Zaragoza of Wareham; Roman Edwards of Yarmouth; and Benjiman Baptiste of Marion. His legacy continues through his 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also loved his many nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Richard Edwards Sr. and Alleyne William (Edwards), as well as his brother's Lester (Bubba) Edwards, Richard "Dicky" Edwards Jr. and sister Debra Galvin.
Charles "Chucky" Edwards will be remembered for his enduring connection to family, community, and the sea. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who carry forward his legacy. A Memorial Service will be held on September 4, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Old Indian Meeting House 410 meetinghouse road. The Repass will be held at the Tribal building in Mashpee from 4:00pm-8:00pm
