Charlotte Elliott Irby

Charlotte Elliott Irby, 85, of Winfall passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was the loving wife of the late Luther "Pete" Irby, Sr. having spent many hours helping him correct the "quarter of an inch" a board was off. Born on August 05, 1932, in Riceville, VA, she was the daughter of the late P.A. and Marion Elliott.

Charlotte or "Moma Shot" as she was known in the Winfall community for her hospitality, never knowing how many she would need to feed for supper. She claimed the family record of fastest tobacco stringer.

She was active with American Cancer Society Relay For Life, a charter member of Brookneal 21st Century Ruritan Club and a lifetime member of Winfall Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, woodworking, crafts, word search puzzles and worked many jigsaw puzzles that now hang in her family's homes. She loved her family and spending time at her second home in Tennessee, having spent Thanksgiving 2017 in the Great Smokey Mountains.

She is survived by her children, Deborah and O.H. Bobbitt, Paul Irby (Cheree), and Tammy and Dennis Anderson; four grandchildren, Tracy and Rob Byerly, Michael Irby, Tara and Jody Stump, P.A. and Jessica Bobbitt, and 7 great grandsons; brothers, Ryland Elliott (Shirley), Travis Elliott (Mary); sister, Ramona Lawrence (Doug); and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Deborah Bobbitt. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Methodist Church Cemetery, Winfall, VA.
