Thank you Larry for your and Jeanne´s kind words and sentiments. The Beirut experience brings back very happy memories and it marks the time when my journey with Chris started. I can´t imagine what life would have been otherwise.

Thank you Chuck for adding your memories of Chris. It was heartwarming to read your words. I had to look up the Randy Travis song and tried to imagine what Chris´ rendition may have sounded like. I greatly appreciate your heartfelt sentiments.

I went to grade school through high school with Chris. Here's a pic of our 5th grade at Butterworth in Moline, IL. Chris and I used to clown around a lot and gave this pic the big "CHEESE" grins. Chris is 2nd row, 2nd from the right. He was a fast runner and made people laugh. RIP Friend.

Chris and I EOD'd and trained together in Killeen, Texas back in 1989. We were in the same graduating class.
Some things I will always remember about Chris:
1. Chris' sense of humor always made me laugh, especially when I think about him creating his own funny version of Randy Travis' "It's Just A Matter of Time".
2. Chris booming voice (filled with bass) always caught the attention of anyone within earshot. His words resonated and set folks at ease.
3. Chris was a unique, gentle soul with a lot of wisdom.
May his family and friends have peace of heart and mind - hearing from those who knew and cared about Chris.

Tomorrow will mark two weeks since Chris passed away. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for your kind words, heartfelt sentiments, for taking time out of your busy schedules to join us for the funeral, for planting trees, or donating to the ALS Association, for all the support and overwhelming generosity. Adam, Sarah, and I feel the love and are blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people near and far during this time of overwhelming grief and sadness. The Cartys

Dearest Leanne. My heartfelt sympathies to you and your family with Chris´s passing. He certainly lived an adventurous life and his curiosity created such creative possibilities in what he enjoyed doing. May your wonderful memories of joyful times together, traveling to be with Chris, his wife, and children, remain a source of strength as you celebrate a life well lived. Sending much love and prayers.

When Chris was small, he lived next door to us on Talma St in Aurora. He was always outside looking for action but when I was babysitting him, he always had to have a fried egg sandwich for lunch. And he was always smiling. We will miss you Chris.

Dear Sarah - my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to you and your mother and family in this time of sadness in the passing of your father. You are in my thoughts and prayers and your memories and smiles will keep your father with you. I believe he will always be watching over you as your guardian angel, and probably doing it from the seat of a motorcycle or with throaty rumble of a Ford Mustang nearby. Thoughts and prayers with you and your family. Stephanie Tutton

We shared lots of laughs and joyful moments with Chris and his family over many meals since our first gathering in Jordan over two decades ago. He lived and shared a full life with his family and friends. We're so grateful to have been included among his circle of friends.

We were all together at the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon in 1991-1992. That´s where Sou and I met our husbands. Chris was a vivacious host with a dry sense of humor. We used to time our lunches to sit together at the cafeteria overlooking the shore. Volleyball after hours. Good times. Alas nothing lasts but the memories. May he Rest in eternal peace

Chris was an amazing cousin and was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. I will remember his humor the most as he always had something funny to say. I will miss our back and forth on Facebook the most and was always happy when I would get a comment from you all the way out in Virginia as I felt it kept us close despite the distance between us.
God speed Chris, I will remember you fondly.
With love your Cousin, Tim Smith and family
