Christine McCarthy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
Christine Louise "Chris" McCarthy, beloved wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and friend, was granted her angel wings on August 18, 2025, when she passed peacefully in Florida, surrounded by the family she cherished with all her heart.

To know Chris was to know strength, light, and love. She was a guiding beacon to all who crossed her path and the hardest worker in any room. Her strength was steady and selfless-she showed up every day for others, never seeking recognition, simply because that was who she was. She always did the right thing, and she was the heart of our family. She consistently reminded us how proud she was of us. She truly made the world a better place. To her children, she was not only a source of unconditional love but truly the best mother, a constant example of strength, warmth, and devotion.

Chris lived life with joy, adventure, and intention. She loved quality time with family and friends, long summer days at the beach, riding her bicycle through what she called paradise, and pausing to take in breathtaking views. She found peace in watching storms roll in, delight in curling up with a good book, and happiness in savoring chocolate chocolate cake. She adored the magic of the holidays, embraced every opportunity to live life to its fullest, and always welcomed new experiences and excitement. Some of her most cherished moments were spent adventuring with her husband, Darren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Chris held various careers throughout her life and excelled at every one. She was an incredible ultrasound technician, a devoted manager of a golf course and restaurant, and an elite sales agent in the insurance industry. In every role, she brought dedication, skill, and her trademark warmth, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she worked with.

Chris was born on September 29, 1971, in Queens, New York, the daughter of the late Ricki Hallenback. She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Louise Powell and George Powell; her uncle Arthur Powell; her sisters-in-law, Dawn Hirrel and Debra Kelly; her brother-in-law, Dennis McCarthy; and her fathers-in-law, Richard Francis and John McCarthy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Darren McCarthy; her children, Alexis McCarthy (husband DJ McCarthy) and Dennis McCarthy (wife Maryam McCarthy); her sister-in-law Diane McCarthy, brother-in-law Duncan McCarthy, and mother-in-law MaryEllen McCarthy Francis; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Mass honoring Chris's life will be held, with details to be determined. All who loved her will be welcome to gather and honor the incredible woman she was.

Her legacy will never be forgotten, and we will continue to share our memories and love for her-forever and always. She mattered, deeply and truly. She made the world a brighter place simply by being in it.

At this time, any additional donations to her active GoFundMe will go directly toward covering her funeral expenses and helping us honor her life and memory.
