Christopher FACCA Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix on Mar. 7, 2017.
FACCA, CHRISTOPHER JAMES
It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of our beloved daddy, husband, son, brother and uncle on March 2, 2017 at the age of 39 after a short but heroic battle with cancer. Born in Milden, SK Chris attended Dinsmore Composite School where he not only excelled academically, but also in all sports. Chris attended the University of Saskatchewan in the College of Kinesiology and then in the College of Physical Therapy graduating with degrees from both colleges. Chris loved being a physical therapist showing strong leadership, professionalism and mentorship throughout his career. In addition, Chris volunteered endless time and energy with various sports teams, as trainer, athletic therapist and physical therapist. The U of S Huskie Men's Hockey, the Saskatoon Hilltops, and Kinsmen Football were just a few of the organizations that benefited from Chris' talent. Chris was an avid golfer with a special love for baseball and hockey. Sharing a passion of nature and the outdoors with his beloved daughters and wife was where Chris was truly happy. He enjoyed camping, lake life, sporting activities and travelling with his family. Chris will be remembered for his confidence, dedication and his sheer determination. Chris' never wavering spirit, quick wit, and humour right up until his final days were beyond admirable. Chris will be forever missed, always remembered and never forgotten. Left to cherish Chris' memory are his wife Jacquelyn, his precious daughters Mattea and Milece, loving parents Gary and Linda, brothers Geoff (Jocelyn, Maria, Lane), Michael (Shelley), and Matthew, grandmothers Elma and Marguerite; parents-in-law, Gary and Marge, brother-in-law, Robert (Christa, Noah, Naomi); as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris was predeceased by his beautiful sister Lindsay and grandfathers Ferry Facca and James Hay. The Facca family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and staff at RUH for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held at the St. Patrick Parish Centre, 3339 Centennial Dr, Saskatoon, on Thursday March 9 at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider giving the Gift of Life and donating blood or plasma to the Canadian Blood Services. Condolences may be left at www.westwoodfuneralchapel.com Arrangements are entrusted to Westwood Funeral Chapel, 306-664-3434.

I was overcome with sadness today when I heard of Chris's passing. He was my physiotherapist and helped me so much after my car accident. We had such goofy conversations! He was a little shocked one day when I brought in my jar of praying mantids, as I had come straight from school on a Friday and couldn't leave them in the car! We laughed about how I was the first patient to bring pets such as these to a session! What a terrible loss for your family, I am so saddened to hear this news. Chris was a great physiotherapist. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

My deepest sympathy to your family. Chris also was my physiotherapist; he had just started at the practice on 8th street, before he and Jacquie were married. He spoke so lovingly of Jacquie. I am sorry for your loss and hope you find comfort in your memories.

Chris was a very good man. It was my good fortune to have worked with him for several years. I counted on him for help with my running injuries. Whenever I asked for advice, typical of Chris, he would say, "yeah, stop running, why would you want to do that anyway!" I miss him.

I first me Chris when we moved to Saskatoon 6 years ago, and I was in need of a physiotherapist. Having seen him off and on since then, it was always like meeting up with an old friend. We always had a good visit and shared a few good laughs. He was always smiling and happy. He loved to talk about his family and also was very helpful with any questions I had in being new to the city. He was a very kind and caring person and will truly be missed. Even though his family does not know me, I would still like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to them, and let them know that he touched the hearts of many.

In my first full season at Huskie Athletics I had the privilege of recognizing Chris' talents and dedication to the Huskie Student Trainer Program by awarding him the Student Trainer of the Year Award. I was so proud to see him succeed as a therapist. A great guy to work with, a dedicated volunteer, and wonderful family man. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. A special person gone much too soon.

Jacquie, Mattea, Milece and Facca family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Chris very well just through day care and our kids school. But I will say with the interactions we had it was obvious that he was a kind hearted man and clearly an amazing father.
My heart breaks for you Jacquie and your sweet beautiful girls. May you cherish the memories you have. Sending hugs and strength in this difficult time.

I am so sad to hear about Chris. I went to Physio school with Chris (PT Class of 2004). Literally every fun memory I have of Physio school includes Chris. Not only was he fun but he was so smart, kind, caring, and always ready to help out. One of my favourite memories was when we learning about the clavicle and we were practicing palpating them on each other. Chris was Peter's "patient" and as Pete's hands touched near Chris' throat Chris exclaims (rather loudly) "Harry your hands are freezing!". Of course having watched Dumb and Dumber likely 20 times myself, I knew exactly where he was quoting that line from (which caused me to have the giggles the entire rest of the class). It was brilliant. Chris was brilliant. He was the real deal. He will be forever remembered and forever in our hearts. My deepest sympathies to you all.

I first met Chris while working with the Hilltops medical staff. His warm, genuine character was immediately apparent, as was his dedication to the team and each individual player. I always looked forward to trips to the clubhouse, knowing Chris' bright smile and quick wit would make for a fun evening working with the players. I would often have our 2 boys in tow. They were only little tikes at the time, but Chris always made them laugh and feel like they were part of the squad. Our oldest son, now 21, immediately remembered Chris when we discussed his recent passing. Speaks volumes about Chris' personality and spirit. The positive impact on all those who were fortunate to have met him is a powerful legacy. Great guy. Thoughts and prayers.

To Chris' family,
Words fall short of expressing my sadness for your loss.
Chris was one of the friendliest guys I have been fortunate to have known. I was in the same physio class as Chris and certainly feel that some of the best words to describe him include jovial, amiable, happy, easy going.....along with so many other incredibly wonderful attributes.
No matter how tired or stressed we all were, Chris could be depended on for a calmness, positivity, and lightness we needed. His smile, sense of humour, and caring nature will be things I will always remember about him.
I can imagine what an incredibly loving and proud husband and father he was.
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man.
sending strength and love, and the knowledge that Chris will only be remembered with the fondest of memories

Chris, you were an amazing person that the world is going to miss. You are one of the most genuine and kind individuals I have had the pleasure to know and feel blessed to have been a part of your life journey.

To his wife, daughters, parents, and siblings: I hope that you all can find support with each other through this-what I can only imagine is an-impossible time. I pray that there is comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering, and that he has gone home to be with his sister and wait for all of you.
