CHRISTOS HANTZIS Obituary
Born Dec. 23, 1949 in Lowell, passed peacefully on Dec. 9th, 2013. Beloved husband of Nicolette (Vergados) Hantzis and loving father of Dean, Vasilios and his wife Brianne, and Peter. Son of the late Constantinos T. Hantzis and Vasiliki (Kalogeropoulos) Hantzis. As a financial advisor and tax consultant for over 40 years he built many strong relationships with his clients. Brother of Nina Pantazis and her husband John, Colonel Sam Hantzis and his wife Carol, and Dr. Peter Hantzis and his wife Linda. Son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Vasilios Vergados and brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Stamatis Xifaras, Victoria (Kiki) Vergados, and Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Vergados. Also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a devout member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lexington, MA. Visitation on Wed. 4 to 8 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Funeral Service on Thurs. at 11 o'clock at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 17 Meriam St., Lexington. Family and friends are asked to please meet at church. Interment in Westlawn II Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center at Lahey Clinic, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01801 or to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. I just learned of Chris passing yesterday. Chris became part of our family sometime around 1969 as my oldest Brother George and latter, middle brother Peter all went to Northeastern U together. I remember Chris doing my parents taxes at our house in Dracut, Ma., Chris was the Best Man at my Brother's wedding. In typical Greek tradition he brought his family spit & barbeque to our back yard along with a few bottles of Ouzo and proceeded to get the family, friends and neighbors all singing and dancing. My brother George and Chris were very close, and stayed in touch. Chris had always been like a big brother to me, he gave me my 1st sip of Ouzo, came with my brother George to watch my hockey games, and was there for many other 1st in my life. The biggest thing I learned from Chris was his love for his wife, children and that everything that mattered to him was about family. Every time he would see me the first words out of his mouth, was asking “how my mother (Yia YIa) was doing. “ We will never forget the kindness, the smiles and the knowledge that Chris shared with our family. I will always consider him my big brother. May Chris rest in enteral peace.

Sorry I didn't knew about his passing any earlier but I can say how wonderful he was to me and my husband as clients. I know our community has lost a very valuable person and he will be deeply missed.

Dear Hantzis family,
I write on behalf of the Ramirez family. My dad George and my mom Beatriz befriended Chris back in the mid 70's when Chris still had his office on Merrimack St. I remember how kind and helpful he was to my parents. My mom widowed young in 1981 but she would go see Chris every February to get her taxes done. Chris was so kind to mom when she became ill. God bless.

My sincere sympathy to the Hantzis Family. I have not seen Chris in many years but I have fond memories of him as a friend, classmate at the Bartlett School in Lowell and as a teamate on the City Championship Bartlett Field Oriole Little League Baseball team in the 60's. He is now at Peace!!!!

Chris was one of the most generous, kind people we knew. We met yearly to discuss accounting and he was a creative, yet honest man with our numbers. He said it like it is and believed in and did what was right. We will miss his views on government and his can-do attitude. This is a great loss. My sorrow and prayers are shared with his family.
