CHESAPEAKE—Cody Ryan Cohen, 31 years old, passed away January 24, 2023 in Chesapeake, Virginia. Cody was born Memorial Day on May 27, 1991 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Arthur Cohen and Robin Leche Cohen. He was raised in Great Bridge and was a graduate of Great Bridge High School.
Cody was a huge lover of all animals. He loved professional wrestling, his favorite being Mark “The Undertaker” Calaway. He loved Mountain Dew, energy drinks, and all nerdy pop culture. He was a big music lover; his favorite bands were Linkin Park and Paramore. His favorite food was his mom’s shepherd’s pie.
Cody was an Encephalitis/Epilepsy Warrior since the age of nine. Through all his battles with seizures and brain surgeries, he never cried or complained. He was so brave and courageous and never lost his sense of humor, often using sarcasm to get him through the rough times.
He remained the most pure, loving soul you could ever meet right up until the day he left us.
Cody is survived by his proud parents, father Arthur K. Cohen of Chesapeake and mother Robin Leche Cohen (Richard Songco) of Virginia Beach; his sister, Samantha L. Epps (Will DeMatteo) of Virginia Beach; his brother, Jacob A. Cohen of Virginia Beach; Cody’s great loves, his two nephews, AJ and Jaxon Epps and his two nieces, Memphis DeMatteo and Freya Cohen, all of Virginia Beach, who affectionately called him their “CoCo;” his granny, Brenda J. Leche of Portsmouth; aunts and uncles Vernon and Michelle Good of Virginia Beach, Sean and Christina Leche of Chesapeake, James and Pam Sherman of Michigan; special cousins Angelita Leche Hall, Austin Leche, Jonathan Good, and Dylan Leche; and a very special little girl he loved like a daughter, Melody Faith “Melly.”
A celebration of Cody’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Paws In Need VA. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.

Dear Robin and family, we in the NCEPH group virtually watched Cody grow into a beautiful young man after suffering from first Encephalitis and then Epilepsy. I have always been so impressed with his ability to live his life despite the challenges of having seizures. In sending you my love and prayers.
